Effect of mounted pressure on him. Ordinarily, he would not step down if government did not intervene.

Lagos is a gangster state.

Nothing is done by elections or popular majority, everything is done mafia style. The God fathers simply tell you do it this way and that's it, you can never have a choice. That's a Mafiya State right there. Similar thing is happening in my Delta State, although not at the scale of Lagos.

You must join or belong to a clique in Lagos else nothing for you.

If MC really step down, very soon someone too will depose Sego...

lekanolas:
Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya, also known as MC Oluomo, has agreed to step down as Chairman of the Lagos Chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).

Oluomo took the decision on Sunday after a meeting with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and other key stakeholders at Government House, Alausa, Ikeja .

Dressed in a white native attire, Oluomo agreed to cede power to Mustapha Adekunle (Sego), the current Treasurer of the union in the state.

Sources at the meeting told our correspondent that Oluomo was prevailed upon to contest for the presidency of the union since one of the factional President of the union Tajudeen Agbede is currently bedridden.

Agbede is said to be down with stroke.

Aside Sanwo-Olu, others at the meeting were Sanwo- Olu's Chief of Staff, Tayo Ayinde, Mr Oluwaseun Osiyemi ,Commissioner for Transportation, Sola Giwa, Special Adviser to the governor on Transportation, Commissioner of Police in Lagos and the Director  of DSS in Lagos, Dapo Amao.

Others at the meeting were the current exco members of the union in the state

The Lagos State chapter has been in crisis after some leaders of the union in the state passed a vote of no confidence on Oluomo few days after he was re-elected for a second term a month ago.

It was gathered that Oluomo decided to step down after mounting pressure from most of his powerful friends and influential figures in Lagos including Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi.

Elegushi was said to have personally told Oluomo to step down or face imminent embarrassment from his loyalists.

It was further gathered that 80% of branch chairmen in Lagos have stopped remitting money to the union's state coffer, resulting in Oluomo's dwindling resources.

I can't believe this nonsense I'm reading. Imagine state-backed hooligans highly placed above reasonable graduates?

What's there in rates collection from commercial bus drivers that cannot be automated? That we have to be at the mercy of unlettered hooligans?

Are we this backward?

Imagine!!! There you have it, one of the reasons for Nigeria's retrogression. State-backed hooliganism and shenanigans.

What makes you think Democratic process or Election is always the way to go?

And what makes you belive that Godfatherism is equivalent to gangsterism?

You think so because your slave master told you so.
This is Lagos, Yorubaland, where monarchy is mixed with democracy for a balance transition of power.

I have said it before that Tinubu's political structure is actually a Mafia organisation. Only few people understood.

They're slowly removing this one. NURTW messed up when they engaged in infighting to the point where the government was able to get hold of their association. Their demise is only a matter of time.

Zico5:
Dey play. Oluomo can never resign, that's his source of wealth. The only person that can make Oluomo resign is Tinubu. And mind you, if such happen, another opportunity is waiting for him in Abuja.

Shut up! Who told u he couldn't put his house in order? His decision is to avert major heinous crisis as some of his loyal members no longer want him to stay.

Nobody is a king forever and mind u who doesn't want to spend money like MC besides he's not the only person in the state.

I think they persuaded him to take a good decision and if I'm in his shoes I would rather step down and not contests even at abuja that's a rather dangerous for his safety.

Baruwa has many Bois around FCT and he can deploy his influence knowing fct decision to pull out of national union to create park led to his sack.

One of the laws of 48laws of power is recognizing red flag and knowing when to stop. So for me, MC has reached his stoppage line but does he know this?
