Nigeria’s much-awaited third 5G operator, Mafab Communications Limited, is set to fully compete with MTN, Glo, and Airtel as it invited users, urging them to purchase 5G routers on its website.

Mafab Communication, which was little known 10 months before the December 2021 auction, became the second-largest telco to secure one of the 5G licenses, according to the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), which shocked the telecommunications industry by outbidding listed company Airtel Nigeria.

But Mafab Communications took a slow path to bringing the service to market. This is coming over 2 years after it successfully secured a 5G license during an auction held on December 13, 2021.

Mafab Data Plan
According to the message on the website, users can now buy its routers for N50,000 using a link that redirects to Sterling Bank. Also, the company released its price list for its data bundles which ranges from a daily price of N350 for 500 MB to N20,000 for 140GB. MTN charges N22,000 for 120GB, while Airtel charges N20,000 for 120 GB.

A message on the Mafab communication website reads:

Experience ultra-fast data speed Download and upload massive files 100x faster, stream movies and concerts with zero lags, and enjoy enhanced VR/AR applications. “Our standalone 5G technology enables network slicing, which supports and fulfills a wide range of network requirements, allowing for improved user experience.

“A 5G standalone network is launched using 5G infrastructure. It is designed in a way that unlocks 5G’s full potential as it allows for transmission of 5G core into pieces that are tailor-made to meet the needs of consumers and businesses.”

Mafab communication also revealed that its service is now live in 6 states which are, Lagos, Abuja, Port- Harcourt, Kano, Kaduna, and Enugu.

Like I’ll always advise, depending on what you do online. You can give Mafab 5G router a shot if their services are live in your location. For now, they have limited location coverage, compared to MTN, Airtel, and Glo.

They're not serious at all. Their coverage is very limited. Four locations in Abuja, six in Lagos and so on. Moreover, MTN offers 30GB for 8k, while Mafab is offering 20GB for 8k. Their plans are not attractive at all.

The only good thing about Mafab network is that it is based on 5G SA (StandAlone) infrastructure, so it's pure 5G, devoid of 4G backhaul. Unlike MTN and Airtel 5G that is based on NSA (Non-StandAlone), which relies on existing 4G infrastructure.

abi they have already ended up before they even start. I don't see how anyone would abandon the major networks router for this when their plans is not that much attractive compared to the major ones.

It does not use code. It's a weekly Digital plan available only on myMtn app and Momo app. 15GB for 2k. If you spend 2k for 4 weeks (one month) that's 8k for 60GB for one month.
