Betta Edu: FG Committed to Transparency, Accountability, Says Information Minister

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, has issued a statement reaffirming the commitment of the Federal Government to transparency and accountability in the wake of the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu controversy.

In the statement personally signed by Minister Idris, he conveyed President Tinubu's directive for a thorough and comprehensive investigation into the alleged payment of funds into a private account by the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.

"We acknowledge the concerns raised by the public regarding the alleged payment of funds into a private account by the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation. We are aware of the narratives circulating widely and wish to assure Nigerians that the Government takes these issues most seriously," stated Minister Idris.

Highlighting the government's commitment to transparency, the Minister emphasized President Tinubu's determination to unravel the truth in the matter. He assured the public that appropriate action would be taken to identify and decisively punish any breaches and infractions, aligning with the Administration's commitment to public accountability and due process.

Minister Idris urged the public to rely on the Ministry of Information and National Orientation as the primary source for verified information about government events. He emphasized that only accurate details would be shared with the public and committed to providing timely updates on the progress of the investigation.

"We urge Nigerians to exercise patience as the investigation unfolds. The government is focused on ensuring a fair and unbiased process, and the findings will be communicated duly and transparently to the public," the statement concluded.

Miss Betta should be shown the door and invited by EFCC if found guilty, like Halima and Sadiya, her female counterparts in the lootmanitarian ministry.

Kemi Adesina was sacked when she was found culpable of NYSC racketeering....

Betta Edu must resign.......And If she must continue with her job, then let her go give dvggy style to Abdulsalam Abubakar or Babangida to help her with Plea bargain.

....And where are the leaders of tomorrow?
If we were all requesting that the youths take over and we are seen the likes of Sadia, Edu and co whom we see as a youth behaving this way, then are youth really ready? Though when we see the likes of Bunmi tunji-ojo performing well, we may then conclude that corruption is a thing of mind.

I wish the way female politicians are scrutinized can be done to their male counterparts too .

99 percent of Nigerian politicians are male and criminals, but the few females we've had are always the ones being probed, whilst we've had lots of male politicians that have looted more and are walking about freely.

ObiCertificate:

Allegations are not enough to fire government officials. In a sane clime, she would honourably resign, but Nigeria is an asylum.

Therefore, the best bet is for her to be suspended to allow for a thorough investigation. If she's found wanting, she should be fired and replaced. But if she's innocent, she would be reinstated and all her entitlements paid.

Tinubu is not responsible for the rascality of those who serve in this government because it runs in the blood of Nigérians living in this mad house, but he can take corrective actions to define his stance on these kinds of issues.

Tinubu should have just rewarded her with money instead of appointment (she was with him thought out the rigorous campaign).

It's nice Nairaland update eerily today.

Has she been sacked or suspended with a possible prosecution

Otherwise all these explanations are not needed

This woman will do worse than what they accused emefiele of doing if she’s allowed to stay for a year

In a sane country, this woman would have since resigned. But the " no gree for anybody" syndrome of Nigerian politicians have taken a strong grip on her.

Imagine the courage to move that type of money.

I use to advocate for appointing women to handle cash because they usually don't have the mind to sack the account like a typical Nigerian man would do (stereotypically speaking). We don't want another Sadiya Umar-Farouk that looted billions.
