Many doesn't know that Dangota is not even among the top 10 richest in Nigeria. Forget Forbes list, the real richest in Nigeria are underground.

For me Babangida is the richest man in Nigeria right now. Only his $12Billion Oil windfall loot in 1990 alone beat the combine worths of Dangota, Abdul Rabiu and Adenuga. By the way, $12b in 1990 is worth over 29billion dollars in today's money.

The billions of dollars recovered from Abacha loot since 1999 which haven't finished yet. If Abacha is alive today and enjoying in his mansion in Kano, would you have known he is worth that much?
Looters are your "richest people" just cos you must find someone to put ahead of Dangote? Wow no wonder youths like Edu/Bankole have proven that the youths are no different from the older thieves that litter our landscape.

Oga why not give yourself this advice so we can hear your name too just as we are hearing Dangote name today. I fear who nor fear una, ordinary Nigerians advising the super-rich on how to be super rich.

We have many private figures richer than him.

When Alhaji Dantata was toiling day & night to build the Dantata/Dangote dynasty, their great grandfathers and grandfathers were busy womanizing & clubbing. grin

Same way their unborn children will lament when they see others progressing (if their fathers don't have a rethink).

The monopolist

If everyone is given equal opportunities to go in and out of the market, Dangote would be no where to be found on the African billionaires list.

But your forefathers had the same (if not more) opportunities like Dangote's forefathers

Yet, they're nowhere to be found.

It's more advantageous to actively engage in the market alongside other players to reap the benefits, rather than being a passive observer who complains about the lack of financial opportunities. Some individuals spend their entire day on Nairaland, arguing with each other, while a chosen few are focused on consistently building their wealth. If you're interested in real estate, whether you're abroad or local, connect with a trustworthy inmobiliaria sitges.

Not convicted but he has been "indicted" by the Efcc and his headquarters raided. So wait till the end of the investigation or possible trial before declaring him clean.

Lol..."indicted" keep been obtuse with words you obviously know what they mean. Allegations are what they are allegations and until he is proven guilty by a court of law he is the richest african based on the ratings of a renowned organisation like Forbes whether you think otherwise or not! So take your advice like a bitter pill, it will do you good instead of being judge on who is clean or not! Have a great day!

Monopoly in what sector? Yall jeep shouting Monopoly without knowing the real definition of it

Nepa, Nipost and Nitel of the past are Monopolies because they were the only one operating in their respective sectors

Dangote on the other hand competitors in virtually all his business segments.

Even BUA alone is competition
That's what i want to say. Is he only the one producing those goods in Nigeria?

How has the refinery failed Sir?

Please explain and elucidate.

Refinery that hasn't start operations is what you term a failure.

The 6th batch of crude for the commencement operations has landed and initial run of the refinery and kick start of the production of diesel, aviation fuel and LPG and subsequently, production of PMS will commence.

The refinery is worth 20billion dollars by the way and isn't part of his calculated network presently because it hasn't started generating any cash flow

He owns about circa 60%-75% of the refinery and the value will be included in his consolidated networth once it starts to generate cash flows.

Even at the current value and 60%-75% ownership, that's a 12-15 billion dollars addition to his networth. The amount will double once operations start and revenue starts to trickle in.

The refinery is expected to generate about 120 million dollars revenue daily even at 50% production capacity. The refinery will add additional 5billion dollars to government revenues annually reducing to a great extent the fx scarcity and volatility issues in the country.

Let's not get started on the job opportunities.

And guess what he has Africa’s largest Granulated Urea Fertiliser situated in Ibeju and has started production and exports to USA, Brazil and India generating circa 400 million dollars in Fx income annually.

Una mind no go touch ground!

God bless Nigeria.
God bless Dangote

In my line of work, if you have several failed deadlines, you have failed.
Dangote refinery has at least 2 major failed deadlines, therefore I personally deem it as failed.
