Nestlé, the Swiss multinational food giant, has introduced Maggi Soya Chunks, a tasty, affordable, plant-based meat alternative that enables consumers in Central and West Africa to add high-quality protein to their everyday food.

Derived from soy, each package reportedly offers ample protein to serve up to eight individuals, presenting a leaner alternative to animal protein with reduced saturated fats and cholesterol, all at a more economical price point.

In an effort to combat prevalent micronutrient deficiencies in the region, Nestlé has fortified these soya chunks with essential iron and zinc.

Céline Worth, the R&grin Program Manager for Affordable Nutrition at Nestlé, emphasized, “We are dedicated to incorporating more plant-based ingredients into our product offerings, aiming to provide accessible, nutritious options that address the protein gap faced by many consumers.”

Worth further highlighted, “Our soya chunks, beyond their delectable taste, present an excellent choice for families seeking to augment their daily diets with increased protein and essential micronutrients in a cost-effective manner.”

Designed to mimic the taste, texture, and functionality of meat, these soya chunks offer versatility as a protein source, seamlessly fitting into various family meals such as rice dishes, stews, and spaghetti, as per Nestlé.

Moreover, the product is available in a shelf-stable format, catering to a broad spectrum of consumers, including those residing in areas with limited access to a cold supply chain.

This release follows Nestlé’s recent introduction of Nido Milk & Soya, an affordable and nutritious instant powdered beverage.

This innovative blend of milk and soy encompasses vital nutrients like protein, fiber, iron, and calcium, further underlining Nestlé’s commitment to delivering accessible and wholesome food options.
