Some didn't bother getting certificates and they become presidents and governors.

Why bother someone for a Master's degree only to be paid below ₦30k? Abi am I the one that is mad?
Re: Secondary School Teachers In Taraba Must Have Master’s Degree – Gov Kefas by seunayantokun(m): 7:17pm On Jan 09
If the holders qualify like their certificates, gotten from reputable universities, and the government will pay them as obtainable for that higher degrees in higher educational institutions, then let's roll, Mr Governor.

Now this sounds like an ill-thought out policy.

Just mention how much will be the take home at the end of the month. If it is a good deal, you will see teachers struggling to acquire the Master's Degree.

This one does not understand what enhancing quality assurance in education mean grin grin grin grin

Your master holders will be kept in dilapidated schools to teach using blackboards and the rest.

Students will sit on the floor and instead of learning to read and write well they get deformed day by day because of lack of good seat and sitting posture.

This one don't know how it feels to see students from primary schools with terrible hand writing because of bad sitting posture(no desk no chairs) throughout primary school and he thinks recruitment of masters holder will correct that nonsense. Shioooor

Hmm. Nigeria is a joke. To be the CEO of Nigeria, as well as other public offices, with all the full access to steal the nation's resources and become made for life, the educational requirements is OLevel, even if it is F9 parallel. And you demand Master Degree for a job whose salary is not even up to a One hundred Thousand Naira a month. Who is fooling who? Until Nigerians come to their full consciousness and see who the real enemies to their progress are in this country, we would just continue to suffer and smile, apology to the Abami Eda. Sad!

Mumu governor.
Who told him that holding a Master's degree translates to being a good teacher?
This one doesn't even know anything about education.
I just hope he'll receive good counsel before he rejects the good teachers because of Master's degree.

30k must be for a dog. He dare not try that. He must pay them what master's degree holders in tertiary institutions of learning are paid.

I agree with that of primary schools. People who couldn't score high in jamb to go to the University will resort to College of education and they'll now be the ones teaching primary school kids. It doesn't make sense.
The best the teacher I ever had in my secondary school had an NCE. I fell in love with chemistry because of that man.
We were 23 in the science class and all of us loved the man and his teaching methods.
The man has a song for almost every difficult concept in chemistry.
Of the 23 of us, the least grade in chemistry in our WASSCE was a B2. There were 6 students whose next best result after chemistry (B2) was a C6 (narrow escape).
The only reason I didn't study chemistry and ended up studying physics in the university is because of my laziness.

Although the Governor's goal is to enhance the quality of education in the State, a well thought-out transition mechanism must first be put in place for it to be successful.

First, the policy appears to be borne out of the spur of the moment with the intension of playing to the gallery.

Again, the modalities of funding the said transition is most likely not have been put in place.

Also, that the NCE holders would soon no longer be needed in the education sector makes a mockery of all Colleges of Education in the country.

The present requirement for employment in the education sector should be gradually phased out by making it a marathon and not a sprint.

😁😁😁😁😁it is not about the teachers qualifications because even a secondary can teach excellently when given the proper training. But the question is wil the government pay a reasonable salary and formulate better policies that will change our standard of education.

And at the end of the day you will be paying them peanut. Teachers in Nigeria are the least paid civil servants. Go and verify. Yet they are meant to perform miracles during external examinations

No mind am. He probably thinks his own Master degrees in Legal Criminology & Security Psychology (University of Ibadan) and Public Administration (Delta State University) makes him a suitable candidate for teaching in secondary schools.

A Bachelor's degree in a relevant area of speciality + a PGC/D (Education) should suffice.
If no PGC/D, then allow 6 months on the job training.

Lol, but your president least degree is a secondary school certificate.. this is why we need ammendments in our constitution

Academia at all levels requires a higher threshold of education. It is not comparable at all.

Any sane leader with a sound understanding of education would prioritize experience and skills over paper qualifications. The governor is obviously not in that category.
