I think Obj carries the vote any day not because he has the most good intensions but because he was and continues to be fortunate. His achievements speaks volumes.Another fortunate great man is Abdulsalami Abubakar. The other man is Buhari.Buhari is a better man than Obasanjo but lacks the credentials. For example he was a coup plotter while Obasanjo ascended without coup.Buhari never handed over to civilian not because he did not have the intensions but his stay in power was short.Obasanjo has ruled Nigeria for 11 years and I don't believe anyone is going to break that record soon.

In conclusion Obasanjo and Buhari are like Kanu and Okocha(football wise).Kanu's credentials are overwhelming while Okocha played with higher skills and  potentials and few credentials.

there is nothing to debate about this. obasanjo is the most achieving president nigeria ever had. i cant talk of the future but for now he is still the best. ask your old people at home they will confirm it, unless they are daft like you. no comments.

well, the truth is, if u hate him, name another who has achieved better than him. And if u like him, good luck. Like i'll say, his strategic plans single handedly won nigeria the civil war. And if u think of replying me, check your ass in the mirror, if it aint round you win. If it does, you're a fool cos u aint then better, than i am.

Please, be matured here. If OBJ is not, who then is? Mention a name and DONT JUST SAY HE IS NOT. SOMEONE MUST BE. However the argument is not that OBJ is the MOST PERFECT PRESIDENT BUT , ,

Gsm came to nigeria when communication has gone global with little or no cost.

The communication companies needs the untouched, large and emerging nigerian market to make money and from all indications most of the big communication companies operating in nigeria are all foreign owned.

People are not decieved by Obasanjo's paid praise singers on Internet Forums, they have multiple IDs and all jump into this type of thread in a co-ordinated way, saying Obasanjo is the greatest ,  but not explaining how he is the greatest. angry

Learn about Obasanjo's time in power - He was a disaster for Nigeria.

Akanbi_edu:

This is what the super-monkey, OBJ, has always wanted. To be seen as the greatest.

That's why he installed Shagari and Yar'adua inspite of the latter's health challenges.

I thank God Nigerians exist who still understand that we should not be praising abject mediocrity because of how our mentality is now largely bastardized due to extreme poverty and grossly unacceptable underdevelopment. Is it not commical folks talk about GSM as an achievement of OBJ when, at the time we deregulated our telecom sector, many African countries already had GSM technology as standard? If a man has never eaten lean meat, why will he not proclaim lard as the best form of animal protein available?

Let me add to your list of Obasanjos's "achievements"  angry

No petroleum minister - so he had full control of Oil Revenue - over $150 billion unaccounted for

Library project? - Has a Library in his name which cost billions of Naira

Ota farm - He admitted his farm was earning approx N10billion Naira every month within months of taking office angry

16billion for darkness - budgetted $16 billion or N4 trillion with nothing to show for it. He looted the money

Bola Ige, Dikibo were murdered?

Zaki biam and odi mass massacre - entire villages massacred - thousands of innocent people massacred by his orders.

Introduced a constitution which allowed many states to adopt Sharia Law which in turn led to over 10,000 deaths from religous violence.

Introduce a consitution which gave public official immunity from prosecution whilst they are in office looting.

Abolished the Petroleum Trust Fund wich was set up by Abacha to improve Infrastructure.

Improverished Nigerians  by devaluing the Naira 500%   (yes - five hundred percent!  angry )

Mismanaged and looted Nigeria Airways causing it to collapse.

Privatised (sold off) many state industries and has not account for trillions of Naira from these proceeds

He gave away our Nigerian  land - Bakassi

He hiked fuel prices approx 500% and deceived Nigerians by calling the price hike subsidy removal - when fuel was never subsidised

Even if you do not like the man, try not to show your bias too much. It is too glaring. All these things you have listed are childish talk and beer parlour talk. It doesnt even need reply. Try and be more intelligent when you post.

Most of you are even judging OBJ by his most recent achievements in the past decade, you forget that without Obasanjo, Nigeria would have been one of those African countries wallowing in perpetual civil war. When even the Head of State was not willing to take decisive action, and Murtala Muhammed had gotten fed up, Obasanjo led the men, and even took some unilateral decisions that brought the war to an end.

I'm certain if he really is the greatest Nigerian of all time, but he most likely is.
Re: Olusegun Obasanjo. Like Or Loathe Him, Is The Greatest Living Nigerian. by Jluvu: 4:05pm On Nov 05, 2011
OBJ for sure will forever remain Nigeria`s best president, if not for anything, at least he wrestled and removed power from those who believed power was there birthright
he will remain my hero, i have never met him in person, his records are speaking loud for him, let face fact, if you believe his is not the greatest name your person and hi light his or her achievement for all to see.

Nigeria has been ranked as the most corrupt country in the world.
An annual survey carried out by the Berlin-based Transparency International (TI) also grouped Angola, Cameroon, Kenya and Mozambique among the top 10 most corrupt.

The damning report was released as the Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo made an official visit to Britain pressing for reduction of the country's huge debts.
