Pls my application status recently changed from received to ' on file' what does it mean.

It probably means the position you applied for is no longer vacant (i.e. it has been filled) but they're keeping your CV "on file" to be considered if a similar position comes up. This does NOT mean you will get the next similar job. It just means they have your CV.
