Mr President, Fuel Price Must Reduce, Nigerians Getting Frustrated And Desperate by Johnjustice: 11:09am On Jan 20
Mr President, people like us warned about drastic increase in fuel price, this as we fear have led to an astronomical increase in cost of living and cost pull inflation...our reliance on dollar is another problem affecting cost of goods in the market.

Mr President, the people deserve subsidy/welfare or whatever you want to call it...the last time legislators got cars worth more than a hundred million naira each...what makes legislatures more important than Nigerians?

Is governance about using public funds to fund the luxury lifestyle of governors, legislature, and executive arms of government, while the people starve and languish?

Government as we read and understand, is about the people, politicians are not kings, they have no special previledges in a democracy, the people have a right to enjoy the dividends of democracy, the people have a right to enjoy from the revenue and wealth of a country, it is not for politicians, it is for the people.

In Europe parliamentarians ride bicycles to their jobs, the state can not use it's funds to buy vehicles for legislatures in America or UK, or even Ghana. You earn your salary for being there, use that to buy your car...we should throw away those criminal anti people clauses and paragraphs that gives legislatures those previledges to live like kings in Nigeria, it is evil, criminal and a pity, that a so called democracy has no benefits for it's people...when democracy is of the people, by the people, and for the people.

Nigeria is the only country in the world where governors, legislatures, senators and executive members live like kings, while the people get nothing.

Yes, the people deserve subsidy/welfare, the people has the right to enjoy the national revenue and cake.

Mr President, work with the banking system create fuel cards, the banks will sell it directly to their customers, this cards will be used by citizens to buy fuel at filling stations nationwide, the cards will be in the form of debit cards, but strictly for buying fuel...by using this card Nigerians enjoy subsidized fuel directly from filling stations, and you cut off the truck drivers and marketers, who are the criminal cabal in the past subsidy scam. CBN and the banks can bring this to fruition.

If Nigerians do not have disposable income, due to high cost of essentials like fuel etc..investment will shrink, and this will lead to a shrinking of the real economy, which is the economy that drives Nigeria -smes, small businesses, entrepreneurship, this is how the bulk of Nigeria survives. Politicians should cut down on luxury living, this shoots up the price of dollars, importing of luxury goods, politicians are a big problem to Nigeria, you people must sanitize yourselves to save Nigerian economy. We need the funds to spread, to be mobilized, but you people like hoarding the money, spending dollars just to show off...such a weak mentality, look at your mates in Rwanda, in Europe moving their nation forward, you people are just gluttons, no benefits to the country.

Nigerian political office holders you people are the most paid, most spoiled and most previledged class of politicians in the world, the least you can do, is think and proffer solutions...you people are mentally lazy.

I appreciate reasonable people like you, who look at facts and not blinded by politics and tribalism...this increased fuel price is killing the real economy of Nigeria... politicians say they are saving money, but reality is, Nigerians are suffering so politicians can keep feeding fat with their families.

How is the savings made from saved subsidy payments affecting or benefiting Nigerians?

The people are languishing in poverty and criminal politicians are looting with over bloated budget and inflated costs for projects.

They're saving money but hurting the economy left and right. The opportunity costs of Tinubu's policies are far higher than the gains.
Jobs are being lost by individuals, small and medium enterprises are collapsing, companies are closing downs due to high operational costs and you're claiming that government is saving money. For who and for what?

Exactly. Tinubu must know that it makes no sense if FG saves money, and Nigerians are languishing in poverty. The job of federal government is to reduce cost of living, so Nigerians can have extra income after buying necessities, to save, invest, with it's attendant multiplier effect. The idea of economics is wealth creation, mobilization and spread... government saving while the economy shrinks, and people languishing makes no sense. The saved money will only end up in the hands of unscrupulous government officials, who will lavish it, on foreign made goods, with no impact on local economy. We are saving to make the West rich, saving for Europe, America, Germany, who produces all the expensive luxury items these government officials buy, just to pose for people they steal from.

Poor man needs money to buy garri, rice, buy local things to survive, I say Nigerian economy benefits more, when there is residual income in the hands of the people, after paying for fuel, food, transportation, clothing, shelter... government is killing the economy and nation because the basic necessities are taking all the income the majority of Nigerians make, with no extra for savings and investment.

We should think about local investment too, because it forms the bulk of investment that sustains Nigeria and Nigerians.

Subsidy was not bad, the bad part was the corruption in the fuel subsidy, which a smart government can avoid... nations with smart leaders are subsidizing for their people through smart cards and innovative ways, so the citizens are the ones who enjoys the subsidies...it's a shame we make the worst of us lead us, these politicians dont want to engage thinkers, it's all about politics for them. Imagine the caliber of people being appointed by this present government...
