Why's the government rushing? The timeline should be 1-2 years.

It won't still work, the only solution to the all Lagos wahala is to decongest Lagos by dredging of River Niger is the major solution.

How do people live, work and survive in Lagos is still a mystery to me.

You see this people have come again, we are talking about cleaning up Eko and here is somebody bringing river Niger into the matter.
Must you always be bringing east matter into the west(Lagos) issues.

You are a mumu man. cool cool cool

use food flask plate with cover that you can wash and reuse. Or are you daft?

Have you thought about eateries running businesses, restaurants, canteens, bottle water, bottled minerals and so on, there is a value chain here, do you know how many businesses might crumble and thousands if not millions that might lose work....

Humans pollute the environment, not inanimate objects like take-away packs....
What happened to recycling these plastics?

cool

Very commendable...since humans have decided to live like animals....don't understand why people will not properly dispose of their thrash...the ones in the markets and inside the BRT buses pisses me off the most.

Lagos state needs to go further by doing something about the growing army of destitutes the state...everywhere in lagos state is now toilet.

Rather than ban the sale, why not regulate and monitor the disposal of these packs... The ban won't stop plastics from being littered around the streets.... Humans drop them off there

Is it only Styrofoam?

The other take plastic takeaways which are technically also single use but we re use them as plates are those ones included? Maybe they are not. People hardly dispose them, we use it again and again.

They should be specific with this single use stuff. I would suggest it should be Styrofoam alone. The term single use is broad, bottled water, drinks, other take away plastics are also single use.

One govt policy can wreck a business.

Those Styrofoam stuffs are menace sha.

And who told you they can't find and sell alternatives to Styrofoam.
I'm sure you haven't witnessed the pollution caused by these materials.
Good development by the Lagos state government
Here is the point, if the approach is to ban everything that is harmful to the environment, we will ban everything, bottled water, sachet water inclusive and many more. Even as human beings, our existence is constitute so much harm to the environment. You can't go around banning everything. And if you have to ban, why not coordinate a gradual phase-out over a period of time. The menace of styrofoam and other materials is an opportunity to give life to recycling industry.

Hard drugs is also some people major source of income does that mean it mustn't be ban ?

As long as the harm it is causing to the general population and environment is more than the good, then it deserve to be ban without any warning or time frame or what's the timeframe for ? so the dealers can have more time to dispose it and cause more pollution ?

Many people survive on dealing with so many illegal things like drugs, fake goods etc does that mean the government should let them continue causing damage and continue to tolerate it because it is some people source of income and they may not survive otherwise ? even Okada that has been banned in Lagos recently is a major source of income for a lot of people too.

Look at your comparison, is bottled water or plastic take away hard drugs?

You guys just come here to come and talk rubbish, the decision by the Lagos government is ill timed, do you know the damage he is about to cause if he actually enforces it?

That means even bottle water and bottled minerals will be banned, when you ho for parties they will serve you water from tap, many eateries might shut down...

Thousand if not millions will lose their jobs...

Lagos state could have handled it better and even made money from it without the ban....

The Lagos State Commissioner for Environment & Water Affairs should calm down and take things easy. This is peoples solely source of income and I believe there should be time frame to this.
So... They should finish killing people with the business first.
