Sierra Leone's Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Displays 8.6 Billion Leones Recovered in Corruption Probe Involving Ministry of Finance and SLRA Staff

In a noteworthy development, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) disclosed the recovery of a sum of 8.6 billion old Leones during a press briefing.

This marks a pivotal milestone in an alleged corruption case involving personnel from the Ministry of Finance and the Sierra Leone Roads Authority (SLRA).

During the briefing, the Commissioner highlighted the scale of the recovery, describing it as a substantial amount embezzled by individuals under investigation at the SLRA.

Six individuals implicated in the case openly admitted to their involvement in the embezzlement and voluntarily reimbursed the state while under detention pending further investigations.

The Commissioner stated, “It’s indeed a sea of money recovered from the corrupt who had embezzled it in one of the cases we are investigating at the SLRA. Six people admitted to stealing it and paid it back to the state, having been detained for their crime pending investigations.”

The total recovered amount in this particular case alone amounts to a staggering 8.6 billion Leones.

Their Nigerian counterparts would have used a special purpose vehicle(SPV) to wire those funds to the cayman islands "tey tey" or call one Aboki to shrink those " tissue papers" into "Benjamins" for easy storage in septic tanks or overhead water tanks.

Last month the president of the national assembly of Cote d'Ivoire was on the news out there for having stolen 600 billions CFA ( $ 1 billion US ) in the passport business.
His company is responsible for making passports and national Identity cards. For the fiscal year 2022-2023 the company only gave
the equivalent of $1200 ( $1 000 + $ 200 ONLY !!!! ) back to the treasury , all the rest was nowhere to be found .

People are wicked. I believe all these stem from poverty. There is a fear of being at others’ mercy that makes a human being gather excess resources by hook or crook. To those laughing at the sum when converted, you’re doing well, the white man congratulates you for carrying out his bidding. Africans should be united, not divided. Any form of division leaves cracks that outsiders can slip into for their benefit. I would say God should punish wicked politicians, but He’s done a terrible job of that over decades.
