our private school owners are greedy when we talk about their fees. They even lack moral right to seek for tax relieve. The schools that collect little fees should be encouraged to pay little not a kind of flat rate.

You have never run a business before.

You won't understand.

Sensible governments usually exempt schools from certain levies and taxes to encourage investment in education. Trust APC to do the opposite.

When the schools have refused to be sensible. They can increase school fees every term but reject tax increase and even the schools charging over N500k per student for just tuition fees alone every 3-4 months would still complain of N100k annually undecided

I don't pity them knowing the amount they receive from parents.

Private schools shouldn't come here and explain about taxes they are to pay to the government in as much as they are to pay according to number of students they have and school fees being paid after all how much are they paying graduates who teach in their schools.

What's wike business with out of school students, or fees being unable to be paid for by parents. This is exactly what peter obi is saying, someone who made money without an enterprise. How do you expect him to understand the struggles you pass through in doing business or even the state economy.

Some private school owners are arbitrarily profit-oriented without recourse for teachers' welfare.

Wetin concern wike with private schools? Shey nah him be minister of education? This man don dey overdo oooo.

He is the FCT minister, a defacto governor. He runs the schools, hospitals, FCT - IRS, fire service, land registry (AGIS), Abuja markets, Abuja environmental protection board, along with a host of other Abuja based appendages of government, along with area councils. Yes, he is directly in charge of schools in the FCT.
That's not to say that the Department of Quality Assurance is not being mischievous. This is terrible timing.

I think he did this same thing in Rivers State as The Governor. No body could oppose him then. So he is trying to do it again in FCT...... Hmmm

Private Schools in Nigeria are greedy

You will see a school with about 500-1,000 members were students are paying #100,000 as school fees per term/head and they won't even pay their teachers 50k

How many months are in a term?
Teachers are paid three times for every term-based school fees. They are also paid during the holidays. So a school can only collect revenue three times a year, but have to pay salaries and run operational costs every month.

Are wage bills the only bills a business pays? Please talk to a school owner you know and get properly enlightened.

Wike is a bufffoon, who has never run a viable business before. He is used to swallowing government so he thinks it is easy to just go to people's businesses to cut out a meaty flesh and then go home to enjoy.

He has the exact mentality of a street agbero thugs roaming the streets and dipping their hands in people's pockets to extract a pound regardless of how his victims struggle to eck out a living..

First it was civil servants who struggled to own houses, threatening them with 5 million naira C of O fees. Today it is school owners..

This man belongs in a gulag. And must not go scot-free when it is time for him to pay for his intimidation of Nigerians struggling to do honest work.

He has swallowed a lot of free government money and does not know the pains it takes to build a business.

N100k is still not much.

My nephew who is in JSS1 is paying N500k for tuition fees alone every term. The total bill for other things is over a million naira but the school owner still give the teachers good pay.

I wonder why private school teachers haven't formed union.

Forheaven sake, this Government needs to think, they need to coordinate operations and policies of every agency. One agency cannot be rolling out policies or making pronouncements that will be working against the mandate of another agency/ministry. Coordinate everything, if e no ft work, tell them people the truth and stop whining them.
You increase charges for everything and u know business owners will definitely pass these charges down to the poor customers that have already lost purchasing power. Some agencies and units are working towards alleviating poverty, some agencies and ministries are making policies that will increase poverty.
some agencies are working towards making it easy for manufacturers to import raw materials for production, some agencies aare making it difficult for manufacturers to get dollars to import raw materials.

I agree with wike on this;

You want to pay lesser tax, reduce your fees and enrol what you can pay.
Most schools in January increased their tuition fees.
