"By targeting these companies and their ships, we are upholding the dual goals of the price cap by restricting Russia's profits from oil while promoting stable global energy markets," Wally Adeyemo, the deputy secretary of the Treasury, said in a statement.

The new sanctions come on the heels of similar sanctions in October and November.

The Dec. 1 sanctions target the vessels NS Champion, Viktor Bakaev, and HS Atlantica, which carried Russian Urals crude oil above $70 after the crude oil price cap took effect, Treasury said in the statement. The vessels used US-person services while transporting the Russian-origin crude oil, the statement said.

The price cap continues to limit the impact of Russia’s war against Ukraine on global energy markets.

Most russian crude is sour crude. I doubt Dangote refinery was built to refine sour crude ...

US crude is light crude...and it produces more than it needs.

dangote is smartly moving away from cement importation to now forex hoarding and fuel importation. The game plan get import license that gives you access to import crude and fuel, import fuel, send to your empty refinery and then sell to marketers. He wants to bypass petroleum marketers and become sole importer of fuel so that marketers will buy from him as if they are buying from a functioning Nigerian refinery..same monopoly he did with cement and tinubu might be in deal together with him don’t know but I can bet my last kobo that refinery is not even up to 40% functional
