Yes, these are larva sourced from waned raffia palm tree which later metamorphosed to a kind of beetle found mostly in fresh palm wine. The Igbo name for this type of beetle is 'Akpakiri'. The other kind of larva is sourced from withered oil palm tree which metamorphosed to rhino beetle that you referred, Igbos call it 'Otugbu'. However, both are edible and nutritious.
The two names you mentioned there are not Igbo names oo, maybe what you call it in your place, I’m from Anambra and it’s not what we call it.

It's called "Edible Worm" delicious local delicacy.

I think it's the larvae of the African rhinoceros Beetle found in fallen logs of palm trees.

So yummy.
We call it IPE in my village( I'm a Yoruba from Ogun State). While growing up then sometimes we used to hunt for it especially the Palm tree type, once we locate any dead palm tree then we sping into action and cut it down to extract the larvas from there.

This GenZ have really missed a lot of things.

I once shared same feeling until one pregnant business partner started disturbing me to get some for her since I was doing a business trip to Delta state. Initially ignored, but seeing her frequent reminder, I knew her condition was pushing her grin So I got some for her. I requested she gives me one, I ate it base on personal protocol. I must confess it was very nice. grin grin
