Why not benchmark the requirements so that whoever meets the standards wins the contract regardless of foreign or local status?

Does it mean no local airline is qualified even if it has the capacity that even surpasses the Arabs, Americans, and the Chinese he's hunting for?

I don't understand how these people think.

Why is Nigeria fond of using lackadaisical lawyers as ministers of Aviation? FKK, now Keyamo? Why not appoint people who are experienced in the aviation industry since the sector is so sensitive?
Till date i still dont understand why people wit zero xperience in day to day running of ministries grt d position.

All government officials are corrupt..
The good ones will take little of the money designated for their agency(less than 20%), while the greedy ones will take 90-100% of money allocated to run their agency

Re: Festus Keyamo: No Local Airline Will Become Nigeria's National Carrier by dettolgel: 7:23am On Feb 01
Is this not the same people that are asking us to patronise the local industry?

Having a foreign national carrier means that their funds will be repatriated and this will put additional strain on the demand for dollars.

It is obvious that the west are using knowledge of our politicians corruption and where they stack their ill gotten wealth (aka international money laundry) to blackmail them into making stupid deals with them. Because there is no valid reason why our politicians are making such stupids decisions unless they are being blackmailed.

I am certain that France blackmailed our dear presidents into putting his foot in his mouth during the Niger saga.

So because one doctor did a bad job you would never go to a hospital you would rather take medical advice from someone without any form of medical training?

A times I do not understand the type of logic that works in Nigeria.

This guy
Business is not about fairness or not wanting to hurt people's feelings.
In any case if you put out an advert for all eligible local airlines to bid and they are screened under very transparent conditions, whoever emerges best capable should become the national carrier. What's unfair about that ? And isn't that much cheaper and less cumbersome than building an airline from scratch?
But I know they'll prefer starting all over because that gives them more avenues for embezzlement

You’ll rather have the Arab , Chinese and Americans to come and be your national carrier instead of a local airline ??

cheesy cheesy

Instead of your ministry to issue a set of criteria, and see which airline(s) will meet it. And then we proceed from there.
Shey they said Jagaban is a wizard at identifying best brains to run his administration. Shey these are the brains abi…

The only reason why they won’t issue a pre-qualification criteria is because currently there’s ONLY ONE airline that is capabale of meeting it .

You tribalistic bigots are usually very short-sighted.
So Keyamo hates Igbo now? You think if Keyamo sees an opportunity to benefit the country and himself by making Air Peace national carrier, he'll refuse to take it because the owner is igbo.
You guys need to recalibrate your brains.
It's shameful to see people think this way.
Re: Festus Keyamo: No Local Airline Will Become Nigeria's National Carrier by Bfly: 7:44am On Feb 01
It would be unfair to use local airline bacause of other operators left behind but you want to establish a proper national carrier on which Arab, Chinese, American have been talking to you and you think it is fair to our local operators here and to Nigerians having their national flag flown by foreign airline when we have ours. Also paying them in dollars that is presently we don't have.

Why not list criteria and let this airlines step up their games instead of fighting for dollars.

Anyways, politically connected people don't feel this brunt but the poor.

I hope one day Nigerian govt would be able to make complete and reasonable policies without loopholes

“No local airline will be designated as a national carrier, I will not do it. We will establish a proper national carrier and people are talking to us, the Arabs are talking to us, the Chinese are talking to us, the Americans are talking to us on this already.”

Hearing this kind of statement from a Minister, you wonder how this kind of people found themselves in Nigeria Public space. At a time where every country is investing in their own and trying to save and retain their resource and develop their own, a minister is trying to sell our aviation industry to foreigners and he is even proud to say so. "Will the so called Arabs, Chinese and American come and run a National Carrier for free?" Won't they be recouping their profits in the same US dollars we presently lack in the country?"

With these set of people in Nigeria Government space, the country has no future!!!

WHERE THE HELL DID KEYAMO SAY THAT A FOREIGN AIRLINE WAS GOING TO BE NIGERIA'S NATIONAL CARRIER?

HE NEVER SAID ANY SUCH THING!

ALL HE SAID WAS ''ARABS, CHINESE, AMERICANS ARE TALKING TO US''?

DOES ''TALKING TO US'' MEAN WE WANT THEM TO BE OUR NATIONAL CARRIER?

But if Arik is named as the national carrier now you go start wailing again.

ivolt:

It is either Keyamo is being deceived or he is planning a mass heist.
The Chinese, Arabs or the Americans don't run charities, they will never
invest in a market where they can't repatriate their profits.

Nigeria needs no national carrier which serve no purpose but bragging rights.
Enough of the debts!
