If you were to be the president of Nigeria, how would you have handled the current condition facing the economy? |

If it's the APC government that sent you, go back and tell them to visit Peter Obi in his house, bulabablu and all his ministers should all kneel down and raise their hands up for two days under the hot sun as punishment, His Excellency Peter Obi will take pity on them and lecture them for 30 minutes afterwards, the economy will turn to positive after two short months. If you don't have it, you don't have it. 13 Likes 1 Share |

Sack cardoso and replace him with a full bred economist with top notch experience.Give the new man 48hrs ultimatum to perform. Reverse susidy removal then tax the rich and luxury items to pay for the subsidies. Meet with dangote to hasten work on his refinery project. open up the borders. 2 Likes |

I would have demanded debt relief from our creditors or at least renegotiated the debt repayment. I will employ the services of foreign military mercenaries to fight bandits and Bokoharam to help farmers produce more and sell at a cheaper rate. I will read the riot act to civil servants and politicians alike that no corruption will be allowed without gross punishment. I will organize a national conference to allow a renegotiated union and by this, it will elicit patriotism from citizens. I will invite Peter Obi, Obasanjo, Elrufia, and Atiku for input not as politicians but as Elder Statesmen. I wouldn't have removed the subsidy in a single stance. 5 Likes |

Simply undo what my predecessor had done that made the economy begin to deteriorate. It shouldn't be that hard, abi? They're quick to make things worse, but never quick to make things better. 5 Likes |

Start by refunding taxes of low and middle income earners. Everyone who received less than 500k monthly last year would have their taxes returned. Everyone one who made less than 200k monthly should have twice their taxes returned to them. Likewise small businesses who made less than 3M in profits. |

Since I won't be seeking/getting second term and if able to scale through the first term without impeachment, Nigerians wil see shege I will remove fuel subsidy 2)Ban importation of Tokunbo products. We survived cashless and COVID. Cuba survived decades of US trade embargo and improvised on vehicles and factories components Ban importation of many luxury products. I won't enjoy those luxuries too as I will lead by examples No more bdc. Banks will be paying fx naira value To reduce banditry,I will support more payment platform like, palmpay, opay etc.to expand on cashless economy Instead of CBN Anchor programs that trillions got stolen I will fund fintech companies to grant loans to farmers at a reduced interest rate. Knowing National Assembly and States government won't allow LG autonomy due to monthly allocations they steal. I will develop a direct Fg and Lg initiative to develop the grassroots in road construction,Medicare, agriculture etc. Increase teachers and other workers salaries. But will still retrench due to over bloated workforce Access to fx for foreign education will be denied except no institution offers such programs here. Same applies to foreign medical treatment Not sure government after me will be sustaining my policies. So it will be a wasted effort in making lives meaningful after 4years 4 Likes |

Orubebe01: First, I would have removed economic sanctions on Niger, because we all need to recognise that we live in an interconnected Africa. The economic sanctions placed by the government on Niger have not worked and it is doubtful if they will work in future. Sanctions haven’t achieved any concrete goal besides causing suffering to the common man in both Niger and Nigeria. 1 Like |

Not a single even half-economically literate answer in the whole bunch, just lots of wishful thinking masquerading as wisdom. With whose money are you subsidy-reversers planning to operate? Are any of you even aware that more than 80% of FG revenues are already commiitted to servicing the interest on loans, and the severe consequences defaulting would instigate? And anyone thinking a CBN governor can work miracles in 48 hours might as well wish for unicorns jumping over rainbows with pots of gold at their ends, that's how ridiculously fantastical such thinking is. It's useless answers like these that make it impossible to take most criticism of Tinubu on here seriously. 99% of you moaning and groaning don't have the first clue about what Nigeria's problems really are, not to speak of any meaningful ideas about how to tackle them. 6 Likes 1 Share |

Remove subsides on power and petrol, aim being to attract investment in both sectors Raise our tax to gdp ratio Try to find a way to incentivise commercial large scale mechanized farming Fight corruption. No ifs no buts Take a loan to expand the railways See if we can get some debt releif ( Not that it may work) Aim of all the above: industrialisation of Nigeria. Regulate the mines. No illegal mining at all. Set up a special purpose antibandit and antikidnapping squad |

You people saying fight corruption...I wonder how can an active criminal fight crime...!! He who must come to equity must come with a clean hand..!! This current people in government are unrepentant criminals and still very much active, how can they fight crime..? They are simply checking how far they can push Nigerians before they break..!! The first blunder was opening his useless mouth to say no more subsidy...starting from that very moment, the country went into chaos till this very moment...!! Opening food storage is all cosmetic and same crooks in the current government would end hijacking same food..!! Bring back subsidy, open borders and employ mercenary to help fight the insurgents and fulani bandit. Our DSS should be active in state sanctioned assassination of identified saboteurs, especially those actively engaged in sponsoring terrorism and banditry, no point wasting time arresting or taken them to court as politics would come into play..!! Silently identify and eliminate..simple..!! |

I will take drastic measures to scare people hoarding dollars to release it...this is the main problem, dollar speculation among Nigerians, leading to hoarding, and we need to close our economy to unnecessary imports, and buy from nations that will receive naira. I will move against dollar stranglehold on Nigeria. 1 Like |

Given the situation we already are, I doubt if I could have done anything differently policy wise but I will sure cut government expenses in terms of running the government. I will tackle security by actually allowing state which can handle state police have their own. Setup national guard as a against the use of regular army for internal operations. Speed up railway to connect the south and the north to easy off cost of food in the south. Speed up the availability of cng conversion center nation wide and you can convert and pay gradually and also make sure the cng is available in every local government. |

Print more money. Redenominate the Naira by removing 3 zeroes, increase salaries across board by 100% from the lowest cadre to 25% for the highest cadre, then find ways to enable the private sector to also meet up with the salary increase. This unfortunately can only be achieved by printing more money because no matter whatever is done prices can never go down, inflation can never go down. Meanwhile you freeze rent, electricity and cooking gas price increase. When you have done the above that can take up to 1 year and the purchasing power of Nigerians has significantly improved you then start tackling the micro and macro economic parameters that brought us to this sorry state. But if the purchasing power of Nigerians don't improve and significantly soon, then you will enter into economic contraction,a state of affairs worse than inflation and at that point a $ will be exchanging for ₦10,000 and not just the economy, but the goverment and country will all collapse! |
