Necessary Endings

” The manna stopped the day after they ate this food from the land; there was no longer any manna for the Israelites, but that year they ate the produce of Canaan.

Joshua 5:12

When Regan a civil engineer had his automobile business booming. He was so glad. He made so much profit in a space of eight months that he built a new home in his district and things were really going well for him, until the government changed policy on importation causing him to sell off his assets and do something new to generate a sustainable income. Initially it looked like a setback but he was able to make use of his skill in building and now owns one of the biggest construction companies in the country.

We all have times when things come to an end that we weren’t expecting. Things may be going fine and then all of a sudden there is a collapse.
It takes more faith to accept what God is doing when something that has been good turns bad. In the same ways we experienced God’s favour we may experience a bad break. It may make us to question God or fall into thinking, wondering what we did wrong. But sometimes God never ends something good without planning to bring in something better.

When the Israelites were in the desert on their way to the promise land. God made sure they had something to eat called manna. They didn’t need to work on the farm. God made a provision for them directly from heaven. But manna had its own purpose and time and it lasted for forty years. God had a plan for them to enter the land flowing with milk and honey full of potentials. God ended the rain of manna for new things to happen.

Are you disappointed or bitter over what came to an end? That job you loved so much? The relationship you put in so much effort? The business you had to change? When things come to an end something better can begin.

Talk about it

When good thing have you experienced that came to an end?

Do you trust God to begin something new and better ?

Key Point: When that which is good ends God can bring in something better and lasting.

Prayer: Lord thank you for all you have done for me. Help me to see the need for something better whenever something good comes to an end
