Governors elected on the platform of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) rose from a meeting in Abuja, on Monday, with a call on President Bola Tinubu to immediately put in place initiatives that will bring the crisis to an end.

Addressing journalists at Oyo Governors lodge in Asokoro, Bauchi State Governor and Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, Bala Muhammed, said the meeting deliberated on various issues of interest and concern to the country.

Bala lamented that Nigeria is almost on the road to Venezuela and called on the Federal Government to work with relevant stakeholders with a view to bringing succor to Nigerians.

He said: “The meeting reviewed the State of the Nation and noted the hardship being faced by Nigerians as a result of the economic and security challenges facing the nation.

"The Forum consequently urges the Federal Government to as a matter of urgency embark on initiatives involving all the sub national governments to bring a lasting solution to the crises,”
adding that the PDP Governors will continue to play their part in the effort to bring security and succour to Nigerians.

The Governors also reiterated the call for State Police, with appropriate safeguards to avoid any abuse or overreach by any tier of government.

The Forum also decried the falling value of the Naira and requested the “monetary and fiscal authorities to find appropriate solutions.”

Meanwhile, answering questions from journalists, Governor Bala flanked by other PDP Governors said, “Nigerians took a decision to bring the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the centre and we respect their sensibilities and sense of judgement. What we are doing is giving positive criticism to the obnoxious policies of the federal government.

"But at the onset of this administration, we supported the removal of subsidy, we believed that there were safeguards, we believed that if we took collective decisions, we should go by it. But certainly, we have seen that it is a free fall for the naira. The cost of living is going high, we are almost on the road to Venezuela.

“So, we are giving concrete opposition but not insulting anybody. But ultimately the decision squarely rests with Nigerians and other organs in the country to make sure that we do things that will bring succour to all of us.”

He also said many things were being done across party lines, on bi-partisan basis, within the Nigeria governors forum, the National Economic Council to “make sure that we cushion the effects of some of these policies. We have reached out to our people and opened the food reserves in a manner that it will provide some succour to our people at the lower level.”

If the subsidy had been removed and the Naira was defended, things wouldn't have been this horrible.
Tinubu is empty.
He is a sawdust filled brain man with nothing to offer because you can't give what you don't have.
Any monkey can remove subsidy and devalue the Naira.
It's what you do before, during and after, knowing the ripple effect of those policies that should distinguish you from the monkey.
Tinubu has not proved he has a brain better than that of an ordinary monkey,if at all he has anything in it.

PDP Governors, thank you all for reading my mind
This was the exact same thing I told my wife yesterday undecided
Nigeria is becoming like Venezuela where you feed on tiny unripe pawpaws in your house because you can't afford foodstuff
I thank God for gainful employment and enough money. I pity the common man.
Jagaban people, wallahi, they won't rest in peace

I am afraid for Nigeria. If nothing is not done urgently to revive the economy, something will eventually give. I hope it won't be disastrous.

Even with the massive rigging all he could get was 35% vote , he paid his back yard judiciary to change the interpretation of 25% in abuja, and you expect such person to do well

Tinubu is getting it wrong. At this rate his government may be ousted by a popular revolt in few months time.
His economic policies are not well thought through besides the hardship is obvious. His time may be running out faster than he thinks.
The issue is how is this problem going to be solved. One of the methods I suggested is ban all individuals with foreign certificates and affiliation from holding sensitive leadership roles in the country.

Imagine Governors speaking. PDP governors that are roaming like dogs round the table of Tinubu and APC, waiting for crumbs to drop to them. State governors, regardless of party are 50% of Nigeria's problem.

Yes, because like Venezuela, we kept subsides on petrol, and got into debt.

Venezuela sells fuel at N40 per liter. That means they spend most of ther revenue subsidsing fuel, and their refining capacity is falling. Did I mention they lose billions of dollars to massive smuggling. Massive smuglling.

Nigeria is not there yet because we have been partially removing subsidy over the years, and because in the 1980's we started increasing local content in many things we produce here (Which is why we still make beer here, and toilet roll....Venezuela lost that capacity to do so since)

But we will be there if we keep on paying subsides to keep petrol below N700 and if we keep paying subsides to the power sector, keeping it from making a profit, and making it lose money. A poor power sector means no energy for industrial development

We better stop practicing socialist polices that we cannot afford. ANd we better start fighting corruption, because the elite are getting away with things that are making the poor bitter.

The man who used
"Let the poor breathe" to campaign suddenly turned to "strangle the poor kpatakpata"..

I said it already before last year elections that Tinubu's government will be government of the SUPER RICH for the SUPER RICH and by the SUPER RICH...

The poor/middle class/rich don't have chance with Tinubu's administration .. Ask anyone who lived in Lagos when he was governor..he has come to sell this country to the highest bidders

Just imagine Pots calling Kettles black. PDP laid the foundation of destructions of Nigeria through bad economic policies.
Obj alone paid over 30 Billion dollars to IMF and stole 15 Billion Dollars under 8 years.
GEJ stole 20 Billion Dollars using his opolo eyes Minister of petroleum. Monies that, had they invested it in Indian Hemp Oil Export, Nigeria would have raked in over a trillion dollars in revenue and thousands of jobs for lazy youths.

tuoyoojo:

I don't remember following anybody to eat anything o, please don't lump everyone in to be the cause of where we are, so many Nigerians have done right by this Nation.

Would you say someone like Okonjo-Iweala that warned us to save for the rainy day also contributed to our present situation?

Meanwhile,
We are all called to preach the gospel of salvation with our talent and in our circle of influence.

Whether on Facebook, twitter or through music, video or any way at all, we are meant to get the message out there.

There is this erroneous impression that only a select few who experience a special spiritual incident are called by God or meant to be in ministry.

That is very wrong.

So long as you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, you have been called to preach the gospel of salvation, whether heaven opened or not to you in the dream:

Rev.17.14 - These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are called, chosen, and faithful."

The same Commission given to the disciples has also been given to you:

Matt.28.19 - Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

Matt.28.20 - teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen.
