I have said it time and time again. The mix of floating the naira plus removing subsidy is not a great formula. Now becasue dollar is too expensive, the price of imported fuel would be reaching indescribable heights. To save face, they reintroduce subsidy again. So how do these tough times pay Nigerians if none of the objectives are being met? |

CodeTemplar: You don't understand what you're saying. Do Nigerians spend dollars? Is 0.5 USD a year ago what it is now in the Nigerian economy? When you float a currency, then it should have a defined range say 900 to 1000 naira per dollar over some years. It is from this you start to work to strengthen it and increase its value by bringing confidence into the economy for investors. But we know over the last few months, the value fluctuation of naira is too high. It was about #900/1usd a few months ago, today it is more than #1500/1USD. As of today, you can't really give the exchange rate a range. We hope it won't jump to #2000/1usd before month end. The government seems not to understand anything about how to stabilize naira because if they do, as of today, we should have had a stabilised exchange rate. But now, who is willing to put money in an economy that has it's currency undulating like an erratically displaced pendulum bob? How do you project for your company? Or you don't know that there's nothing that kills a new business faster than an unstable economy? How do you sustain your business with limited resources in the face of inflation when you have not even break even? Get more loans? You APC supporters really need to sit down and think. The problem I have with most of them is that they don't think deeply. They are shallow thinkers and that same thing is affecting those of them appointed in government. See the CBN governor, the economic team, the advisors, all of them are shallow and hasty thinkers. They don't think through to understand and device means to mitigate the consequences of their policies. They miss timings, mode of implementation, and the extent of the policies they implement. "Rush and do" people. Their supporters are evil worse. They defend what they don't understand. Many of them just think with their tails. It is well with Nigeria o 2 Likes |

ogododo:FG should remove the subsidy completely, patapata ni won nfo oju, strong man should take a bold decision, a litre of petrol will be sold above #,1000, and govts will have enough money to build roads and other Infrastructural developments! Like a BOLD and courageous govt, trust, there won't be any form of protest, we will salute the man at the helms for his solid economic decisions |

Yong4ever: I can't agree less and these Indomie Generation on Nairaland should learn from elders in the house - how Babangida- the self-stiled, former general came and illegally brought in SFEM( Second Tier Foreign Exchange)FOREX and when he saw it was not working ,threw in SAP( Structural Adjustment Programs) as he was being tele-guided by IMF and the World Bank and again because of greed ,selfishness and wickedness and Nigeria never came out of it! Worst, the CBN governor was directly operating under his instructions- all efforts to kill Abiola June-12-Elections and he eventually abandoned his Mission, ran to Abuja and stepped aside for Abacha! Nigeria was never the same again,as there was No Accoutability under his regime and it was there way of life! Tinubu must have learned his lesson, not to listen to these Foreign Institutions, because they want to have their ways! 1 Like |

Itโs a no brainer. With dollar exchanging at about 1500 Naira the only way fuel can sell for 630 Naira is if someone else is paying the difference I.e subsidy. Because the pump price of fuel is directly proportional to exchange rate. |

The psycho Kriminal and certificate forger removed fuel subsidy in public and put it back behind doors while Nigerians are paying at very high unsubsidized price, that means Thiefnubuuu is actually not paying a dime on subsidy. The psycho is taking the whole money. That's how d*rug cartels operate. They take everything and show no remorse |
