A human rights activist, Femi Falana (SAN), has asked the office of the Accountant General of the Federation to publish the monthly allocation to states and local governments.

Falana made this call in an interview on Channels Television on Tuesday.

He noted the government must be transparent to convince Nigerians what it is doing with the proceeds from the removal of oil subsidy.

The senior lawyer urged the media to always demand the monthly allocation to every tier of government.

He said, “We are demanding that on a monthly basis that the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation be publishing what goes to every tier of government.

“That was the culture in the past. At a stage we were told the government was going to be run in a transparent manner.

“Section 22 of the constitution states that the media should promote transparency and accountability in the government.

So the media is compelled to demand on a monthly basis what goes to every tier of government and to compare what was being earned before fuel subsidy removal and what is going to the federal government account after the subsidy removal.

“For almost a year, the NNPC did not remit any money to the federal account. But now we are told that they are no longer subsidizing fuel.

“They should tell us what they are making per month. The government said that it would be paying N35,000 wage award to workers every month; but now we are told only some months were paid.”

I agree.

NOTE:
Constant repentance is critical in our Christian journey and it is important we know this and act accordingly.

Repentance is an act of humility before God, a way of depending on him to make us perfect as he is perfect Matt 5v48.

One common trick, the accuser of the brethren often uses against God's children is making us think immediate and constant repentance isn't important.

Well, it is and you must learn to adopt a lifestyle of repentance no matter how "LITTLE" your sin was. Remember pride, unforgiveness, anger leading to offence amongst others are all wins.

Let us repent right now of those sins we might have committed knowingly and unknowingly, good thing you are not in the church auditorium where you are asked to come to the front so please despise your pride and shame and do this with all your heart.

Say the Prayer:
Father I acknowledge I have sinned, I confess all my sins, Be faithful and just to forgive in accordance with your word in Jesus name. Amen.

If you are a Nigerian and you think the government genuinely care about you, you are on your own. Run your race, but make sure you don't break the law. That way you wil be less disappointed about the happenings in Nigeria.

Mama Okonjo-Iweala was doing it as Finance Minister and it put the governors under pressure and EFCC easily tracked the stolen money even though the corrupt courts couldn't convict many of them

On God, the revolution has started. Asiwaju is a goal! cheesy

Hopium:
grin

E don dey happen. Naija is on the right path. I love how the FG gave the PDP governors close marking. grin

Soon the citizens will wake up and understand that the center alone is not responsible for good governance. I see in the very near future where the people will start asking their governors for accountability - LP ooo, APC ooo, PDP ooo. The FG might have just opened the eyes of people with this chess move. Put dem on the spotlight, Asiwaju baby! cool

Shebi, if dem say no more subsidy; fuel don cost, electricity no dey, hunger dey for land, dollar dey expensive, "wetin we come dey benefit from the government?" - na so e go start and people will start asking questions. The awakening that will lead to the needed revolution is here. State governors, it won't be business as usual from here.

This question by the FG is what you would expect the state chapters of the NLC and TUC to be asking. But dem just dey useless - all of them. How would the FG remove subsidy, increase FAAC, and you aren't asking for the barest minimum which is the minimum wage increment from the mannequins that call themselves governors?

Government in nigeria in all levels run in secretcy..no body knows how much is given to the state government, local government and what federal government collects...all of them operate in secrets...no transparency, no accountability...due to lack of local government autonomy. and operation of joint account nobody knows how much the state government gives the local government from the allocation the state government receive from federal government..that is why the LGA areas villages communities are not developed due to lack of sufficient funds for development
