nairalanda1:It's the fuel subsidy removal that ignite the hyper inflation in the country. Does the removal of fuel subsidy stop the government from taking loans Nigeria has the reasources to fix all her refineries and make them running. |

Celestialsword: Actually, thanks to years of low oil prices, and massive borrowing , brought about in part by subsides, we don't have enough money, and debt servicing was taking 90% of our loans at one point. Ironically, taking more loans is a result |

ufotunang: The moment they floated the currency, the government lost the last bit of control they had over the Economy... right now, Nigeria's Economy is at the mercy of the open market and it is definitely not helping matters that fuel is an imported commodity. I regret to tell you that as long as fuel is being imported, as long as there are no significant exports, as long as Nigeria depends fully on a consumption demand... The Naira is doomed. 1 Like |

Rebuke: You people surprise me a lot A man who is a certificate forger as recently as 2022 here when he filed his electoral forms with INEC is someone you can trust ? Do you guys know what a currency note is ? IT IS A PROMISE FROM A PURCHASER TO A BUYER THAT HE /SHE IS GETTING VALUE FOR THE GOODS AND SERVICES THAT THE SELLER IS SELLING TO THE PURCHASER ==== That is TRUST, and the man in Aso Rock is not a trustworthy person. A man who once sold drugs can do anything to make money [FACT] ----- TINUBU is printing trillions of naira every day and converting to dollars we are sending home --- and they are using the worthless monopoly money Tinubu is printing called the naira to chase and purchase the limited dollars in circulation for them to steal and keep - THIS IS THE REASON THE DOLLAR IS RISING AGAINST THE NAIRA AND AS LONG AS THIS TREND CONTINUE UNABAITED - THE DOLLAR WILL HIT N5,000 BEFORE THE END OF THIS YEAR!!!!! EVERY OTHER NONSENSICAL NARRATIVE BEING PUT OUT THERE BY THE MEDIA OR THE GOVERNMENT ABOUT THE NAIRA ARE LIES AND DIVERSIONARY METHODS TO ENSURE WE DO NOT REALIZE WHAT THEY ARE DOING TO NIGERIA ------ stop printing and stealing the naira!!!! 3 Likes |

Simple demand and supply. We import practically everything plus we now also source FX for school fees and healthcare. What do you expect will happen? The governors and LG are totally useless. Not one state in the country has an industrial strategy or an end to end agriculture strategy. All they do is collect and share monthly allocation. The party has come to an end. Every level of govt in this country needs to focus on Production and not consumption, just like the Man said during the campaign 1 Like |

nairalanda1:The economy cannot be diversified in one day,it should be a continued policy trust handed over any incoming government. The outright neglect over the years by successive government has lead the country into the current quagmire. It was only ignited by the fuel subsidy removal even when none of the country's refinery is working. |

Celestialsword: Yes you are right about import dependency, however note that Nigeria also had high volumes of petroleum export to balance out the import costs back in the day (good days) especially during the era of high crude oil prices per barrel... However of late, those petroleum export numbers have drastically dropped, coupled with the drop in crude prices, (the global shift in fossil fuel demand to renewable energy sources and Electric vehicles), as well as the legendary corruption in the oil and gas sector of Nigeria, the impact of oil Bunkering and pirate activities and the resulting effect; is the weight of import/National demand that is heavily being felt currently. Oga, It will be a bad fall just like Venezuela... brace yourself it will get worse, its not a prophesy... it's just a pure fact. |

Tinubu till 2031....it is his turn to ruin Nigeria. Nigerians are used to suffering and smiling. On his mandate we stand. Where are those that know almost nothing about economy that, in stead of learning, keep arguing and insulting blindly? How I wish people listened when I advised buy dollars and keep. There is no hope for naira 1 Like |
