“It is true that people do come from Lagos, Ibadan, Onitsha, Katsina and Kano to buy yams here, but the problem of escalating food prices especially that of yam is not caused by them. The problem is from the inability of farmers to cultivate their farms due to banditry attacks and the increase in cost of transporting yams to market due to high cost of fuel,” said Sarkin Doya. I must commend blueprint for this balanced investigative reporting. It's particularly an excellent journalistic report because it points out the problems, the causes and possible solutions to be immediately adopted. I have no doubt that governments at all levels will find this report very helpful. I am glad that the FG is already on it. Meanwhile, the southern Nigeria parts , especially the Yorubaland region with so much land, great weather and abundant water bodies can do better than it is currently doing in agriculture. We lead cassava, cocoa, kolanut etc but we need to look at commercial farming of the staple crops too. We have always fed our own population in the western region and we can bring back those days. We need a strategic plan for our region's food security so that we will not be at the mercy of agelong local communal fights in northern Nigeria. God bless Nigeria for ever! Cluelessness of leadership. They have all been silent as Bandits ransacked villages. So many local governments in Niger State are presently under the control of these bandits. Farmers in those areas now pay heavy taxes to them to continue to farming activities. THE SOONER THEY REALISE THE PRICE INCREASES AND INFLATION ARE DUE TO THE BANDITRY AND INSECURITY, THE BETTER FOR THEM 18 Likes |

The government will soon start shifting the blame to Nigerians as being responsible for the inflation and the next thing their foot soldiers will do is to begin to target and loot businesses. The slowpoke who posted this topic have been trying to imply that the inflation and rising cost of commodities are man made and an attempt to sabotage without having any idea or clue how businesses run. If the people in the local market can't afford the commodities, should the farmer lose his sweat and hardwork by not selling to people taking it to other parts?? 10 Likes 2 Shares |

The prices of grains are now decreasing in some northern states. Govt is now forcing those who hoard the grains to bring all the grains available for the people Some people will say "Is that the solution to the problem" Yes it is one of the solutions to the problem of the high cost of grains. The only business in the northern part of the country is agriculture and one man from Kano can buy all the grains in one state for storage. 4 Likes |

Nigerians are clueless, I thank God for the life of Peter Gregory Obi, if na him be president now, revolution for don start, everywhere for don scatter. Nigeria is full of educated dummies, the very day the Agbado and ewa president announced subsidy removal abruptly without putting in place any damn project or policy, to tackle the effect of the subsidy, some educated Agbadorians dummies were simply saying subsidy is gone for good, writing beautiful articles on the benefits of it's removal. We wey still get sense for 9ja dey tell dem dat time say, the removal was too soon, say suffer go start, but they called us names 👉unpatriotic, enemies of Nigeria, Pessimists, Obidiiots and so on 🙄 To the Agbadorians and Ewas, no be everybody wey dey support Peter Obi and good governance be Omor Ibo, na sensible people from over 250 ethnic groups dey support am. Make I go drink my Garri 🙄 5 Likes 1 Share |

Insecurity, and poor food production due to subsitence farming. Yes, and governments past and present have done nothing about incentivising large scale commercial farming. SO, we keep on having food shortages. And yes, up till now, APC Is treating the bandit problem the way Gowon treated the biafra thing...as a 'police action'. Even when the bandits have essentially gotten to Ore and are threatening Lagos, the government is still sititng blank. |

Hunger Games Script , they already stopped food trade across African nations, now they are attacking food trade between states in same nation. After that they will ban food trade between parts of same state, from there prohibit food trade all together, mean while killing all the farmers at same time. Anybody who is still doing wedding party, and birthday party and any kind of celebration while all this is loading is certifiably mentally insane. Although you could say its been the case since they put the whole world under house arrest for the poison shot. Its a really challenging time to be financially connected to people who cant see the danger, those who still want to party while all the foundations of the house is being removed one by one to deliberately collapse it. 1 Like |

what's stopping the Southern states from forming a synergy of commercial farming in a large scale instead of white elephant projects like airport and unserious attitudes like sharing cond*ms to workers by Gov. The dearth of serious and patriotic intelligent people due to Japa is part of all these so called cluelessness in governance. The ish speed from government circles need we the populace to ask whether we are not run by androids. Food, gas, water..... security.....these are basics that most developed countries have overcome over 50 years ago., yet, with all wat we got, we're still dangling here..... Government is the problem. Privatize the country....better, if it was a true capitalist economy and see billionaires spring up |
