When you find yourself inside a hole, only a foolish person keeps digging.

This approach will worsen the already bad situation.

Why not start with Dangote and BUA warehouses, as you people has forgotten this is a capitalist economy.

I just have one question:

How will closing this supermarket bring down the price of the dollar, which is the main culprit in our economic crises?

If you didn't help this business man to subsidize his purchases and expenses, if you didn't give him the capital to set up or to operate, you have no rights to force him to sell at a particular price.

But this will always backfire, as more owners lock up or transfer their goods, or go underground, the goods will enter black market, and everyone who really needs it will pay triple the cost, at the point of death.

Buharri tried that in 1984, someone should please remind me how that matter ended?

Allow free market economy to dictate prices.
dumb and senseless comment. They are putting different prices on goods and selling at a different price or is it that u don't know how to read?or u just comment without thinking

The management of the supermarket was accused of shortchanging customers by charging prices other than the price tag at the shelves.

You shouldn’t be writing that long jargons without reading this

To be fair, the rate at which prices are changing daily, its hard to keep up with updating tags for every single product on the shelf.

When something similar happend some years back, I asked the seller if he already had profit at the old price. Why add price increase for something that was bought at old rate?

He then explained to me that where will the additional fund come for him to restock?

Similar to when Tinubu said subsidy is gone speech and prices jumped up before he dropped mic.

A tanker of 33000 litres at 3.3m to restock @ 100naira/litre, turned to close to 20m to restock. Anyone who does not have that is out of business.

Are you on the side of the crooks or the people?

Consumer protections act. No situation can be worse than what we are facing now, if you and them like, close down your business, it won't affect Nigeria.

Very stupid one from the government, create a parallel cheap market through a private partnership and watch price fixing die. People are wicked though especially those spare parts sellers and electronics sellers. They can sell for you what's 20k for 100k if you don't understand pricing.

You cannot force them sell at your own price..the over head costs and expenses they incur to run the business is much in this bad economy where government does not provide a conducive environment for bussinesses to thrive..they have to make profit to stay in bussinesses...many bussinesses are running in a loss due to the bad economy and the harsh bussiness environment

Crazy approach.
You couldn't find damgoate cement company to sanction, or even caution . (N15,500 per bag). You didn't do anything to set price first before executiving naughty policy.

As useless as Buhari was in almost all his foolish policies...smh. APC campaigned with a promise to continue his legacy and foolish citizens including youth voted for same party....lol. There is no way APC should have won an election after poor performance but In Nigeria even the educated ones are dunce.

Go and read the write up, your response is contrary to the reason why Sahad Store was sealed.

Government can't be indifferent to exploitation of Nigerian by unscrupulous business elements. It's the duty of government to act as regulatory institutions.

I want to believe a cabal is out to blackmail this supermarket.

Sahad stores has been shopper friendly all these years. People rush to purchase at the supermarket once it is opened daily.

Their low pricing compared with other supermarkets in Abuja is known to shoppers.

I advise the president to be sure some people are not trying to turn the people of Abuja against him and his government.

Whosoever is behind the closure of this store must have been wrongly advised and could be playing with the imminent wrath of shoppers that knows what rhey are gaining from this price friendly store.

Allowing free market economy is one of the things causing this artificial inflation in the first place .!!!!!

So, Fulani herdsmen who kidnap, fleece farmers and slaughter them is not the cause of food inflation, but innocent traders who are subject to changing farm gate prices are the ones behind the inflation?

Nigerians, who do una this thing na?

Price display crime. How can any big supermarket keep up with updating price with a galloping inflation, having such large sales inventory. Who will pay the cost of such resource required for the update.

Take for example cement, within just over two weeks, cement has moved from #5,500 to 5,700 tob7000 to 7400 to 8000 to 8500 to 9000 and now 10,000. Tell me, how can a supermarket with such large inventory size keep up with retagging the whole shop item, more likely the proce will change as they are on it.. Besides you get the receipt that has the prices and you can choose not to pay.

Why don't the govt stabilise fx rate, curb security situation that limits farming activity etc. Why didn't they model the impact of these and prepare for it before removing subsidy and floating exchange fate in the mist of unable economy and insecurity.

What were they really thinking. A case of shooting before you look and blaming the bullet.
