It is obvious that Mr GEJ lacks balls to fight and curb corruption (not all these political charade of stupidities in the name of fighting corruption) The only language his weakening government understands is amnesty. That is why the right-thinking Mr Senator suggests conditional amnesty as against the usual unconditional ones.

I support the idea 100%, the problem is how the mode of operation of the program.

If the nigerian masses were not so docile, then I would have said it is a crazy idea. But the nigerian masses has\ is being rape.d and they flock churches and mosques praying for relief or at best come to nairaland and engage in academic debates. Then the only option is to try and accommodate out oppressors. Because if you are waiting for then corrupt executive or the cleptomaiac legislators or even the compromised judiciary to do it for you, then you will have to wait until jesus come back - twice.

You can see that western government looters to bring looted funds into their country but make it impoSsible to take funds out. If we could repatriate the hundreds of billions of dollars stashed in foreign countries, our economy would boom overnight while the foreign countries holding the money would go burst.

Sefiu Adegbenga Kaka (born. 14 May 1952) is a Nigerian politician who was elected Senator for Ogun East in the 9 April 2011 national elections, running on the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) ticket. -go figure. Tinubu is looking for any corrupt angle to get off da hook. BASTAR.D Grin

Its like most people just read lines and do not read in btw the lines and they come here calling people illiterates.

1. How many of these corrupt officers and looters had accepted that they looted the treasury before giving them amnesty? They see it as norms.
2. Many of them still believes that they were only accused by their political opponents as an act of vendetta, so they still saw nothing wrong in looting the peoples money.
3. What precedence are they trying to lay for the coming generation by giving AMNESTY for gross misconduct and crime against humanity.
4. How many people have died by the handiwork of this looters by diverting monies supposed to be used for good roads and hospital equipment and infrastructures etc.( so many Nigerians die everyday for lack of fund from just simple operation that its not up to a million naira and yet few loot in billions. Can you recover the souls back if you hand them AMNESTY on a platter of GOLD).
5. When will we have Nigeria of our dreams not Nigeria we hate to dream of?

Its not a time to brew up sentiments but a time to stand up to what is BAD. The future is blink if AMNESTY is given to the wrong doers of the LAND. WHAT IS BAD IS BAD.

The concept of Amnesty has been grossly abused in Nigeria.
Re: Senator Wants Amnesty For Treasury Looters by rhymz(m): 12:36pm On Nov 11, 2011
I can't believe a person in his right frame of mind will have this kind of foolish thoughts. Seriously, our collective sense of decency in this country has been bastardized to the extent it is now a normal thing for people to accept crime and criminals as if they were the norm.
This is an all time low for Nigeria. I shudder at the thought that there are even more of such senators at our national assembly making excuses for criminals in the name of fattening the national purse. There is nothing rational about this suggestion both in theory and in practise.

I am not surprised to hear such an advice from a Nigerian senator. He is simply protecting his fellow criminal senators and legislators. What do we expect when we have criminals making laws for us?
Re: Senator Wants Amnesty For Treasury Looters by Nobody: 2:25pm On Nov 11, 2011
@Ctrume: im nw more convinced that u r lesser than an illitrate itslf which places u on same category with retards, imbeciles, those with downsyndrome or better still a person in a perpetual state of stupor. Hw on earth will u justify what that criminal minded senator proposed and nw refer to those that refused to align themselves with such distorted type of reasoning as illitrates. What d 4uck is conditional amnesty according 2u? So we shld start pampering ex and would be looters abi by granting them conditional amnesty? So our security agencies cant get these mofos arrested and jailed 4life and still repartrate these monies back? What kind of precedent r u setting with such stupidity? Any1 in goverment will nw loot delibrately and demand for conditional amnesty and nw return some change and keep d bulky part which is the fastest way of getting rich with impunity with immunity frm prosecution or better still soft landing. There wont be anything like detterance anymore, if u r truely grounded in knowledge u will find out that the STUPID PRECIDENCE CALLED PLEA BARGANING has made a mockery of fighting corruption by efcc in nigeria. E.g does d name lucky igbinedion ring a bell 2ur ears? Did u follow his case with efcc? Cos of plea barganing, a man that stoled billions of # was asked to pay #3milion and go home, nw imagine hw u and ur criminal minded senator's conditional amnesty will play out if such retrogresive idea becomes a law? Sometimes i rly wonder if d2 hallow chambers are cursed cos nothing gud comes out frm those senators and rep members anytime they get in2 dat criminal house that makes them propose and debate all manner of folishness rather than issues that are germaine to the growth of this nation rather u hear them proposing legalising same sex marrage, prostitution and nw amnesty for treasury looters and later national awards for them all by mr president. May God jst ve mercy on us for the sake our unborn children.
Re: Senator Wants Amnesty For Treasury Looters by COMPAQ(m): 3:27pm On Nov 11, 2011
As alooter, why would I be bothered when the likelihood of EFCC catching up with me is relatively small. EFCC is just parading Governors and one or two ministers, but consider how many Presidents, Vice Presidents, members of the NASS, Governors and deputies, Commissioners and LG Chairmen, heads of parastatal, special advisers etc we have had since 1999 and 99% of them were corrupt and how many have been arrested so far? So you'd agree with me that there are still too many people out there who have stolen govt money that are not even close to being on the radar of EFCC, so why would they come out to take the amnesty, which automatically proves them guilty??

Seriously what is it with you nitwits & "Yoruba senators?"

Shall we begin to compile a list of these "looters" and see how many are Yoruba?

Nigeria doesn’t need SNC – ACN Rep
By Femi Makinde, Ado-Ekiti

A member of the House of Representatives representing Ekiti North Federal Constituency I, Mr. Bimbo Daramola, has faulted those advocating the convocation of Sovereign National Conference to address the problems facing the country.

Daramola said this at a press conference in Ado-Ekiti on Thursday.

He said the call was unnecessary, saying those who would be part of such conference were not more patriotic than the 469 members of the National Assembly who were elected by the majority of Nigerians.

He described the agitation for the convocation of the conference as an affront on the Nigerian Constitution and usurpation of the powers of the National Assembly.

Daramola advised the advocates of the SNC to shelve the idea, saying the nation did not need SNC to tar its roads, to improve health facilities and fix other problems.

He said, “We don’t need any SNC because Nigerians have already elected members of the National Assembly to represent their interest.

“Nigeria cannot afford to set up an unconstitutional parallel body to rival the National Assembly. What we need in Nigeria is how to present an equitable and justifiable Nigeria, where everybody could have a sense of belonging.
