I have seen many comments inviting Nigerian military to take over the leadership of the country.

Same military that have looted and is still looting money meant to fight terrorism.

Same military that is shooting police officers.

The only solution right now is colonization by USA or China.

If Nigeria was a sickness, do you really think they would be a cure?

Maybe you are still feeding under your parents or helper.
Any move be it the military , that roots out this disaster should be highly appreciated and celebrated.
The nation is falling with speed to death. These guys are cursed. Anything to hold the nation is welcome

It would have died before getting to the hospital, they call it "dead before arrival"

If Yoruba will humble and do away with bragging right on top Presidency.. apologize to Nigerians for their Tinubu god cluelessness and stupidly.. then order the imp blaming Buhari .. like osibanjo Na concrete not human..to step down and handover to a competent person ..

... or team of economists to salvage Nigeria situation

Nigerians will appreciate them more..

There's no quick solution to Nigeria, if we ask u to name a competent person that has a record of providing "quick solution", u won't name anyone.

I’m sure if Obi is president now, $1 would have been 1 naira and he will be giving every Obedient 100k monthly for feeding.

Most people calling for military take over are not doing so because they feel military would do better no

They call on military to take over because with military the reforms Nigeria needs would happen fast very fast

Restructuring can happen in a day
State Police in a day

And they feel military government would tackle the insecurities we have

Now argue against this points

He organised the most expensive transition to democracy in the world with $7 billion dollars. He met $10B from Abacha regime and he left Obasanjo with $3B when he was leaving. Did we not make any oil sales in his time?

Not an advocate of military rule, but I don't see how this adopted expensive western democracy is going to help the common man

Every restructure we have had is from the military

So it's bold of you to assume them won't restructure

If the people won't regional restructuring I don't see a reason the military won't do it

The army is not going to restructure NIgeria, is not going to give us states or regions or even provide for secession, and they usually do not listen to the people most of the time.

Even state creation was done to pull the rug from under the Biafran project, first time out. And then there was the crisis in the first republic of minorities grumbling against the big tribes, and in order to maintain stability, state creation was done.

The army is going to do as it has done before, set up a dictatorial government under which all forms of dissent would be stifled, and all human rights would be denied. Think the army would let this website thrive? Think again.

Plus army rule is not going to make the economy better. At all. Once the celebration dies down, the army is going to face the same problem we are facing now. AN economy that is running with an almost empty treasury. Because of our failure to diversify away from oil. (Oh, and our reliance on oil is a gift from the army to NIgeria.). PLus the uncertainty we had is going to get worse. People are gonna hoard forex as massively as possible. Think that naira is going to stay at the level it is now?

PLus, corruption and other issues are going to thrive, plus insecurity. Mass insecurity. A lot of soldiers are going to be withdrawn to make any coup possible. Meaning potential for crisis in our security.

Plus, is the West going to back another coup? This isn't the days of the cold war. The US Is our major hegemonist master. They would not back a coup. And going over to Rossiya would make our matter worse. Sanctions will come, and from where we are, we cannot bear massive sanctions, like it or not.

The problem is, most of you NIgerians calling for coup are upset your side lost the crummy election of last year. Well, we lost because we were not united. Not because of Yorubas, or Hausas, but because Obi and Atiku did not have the word compromise in their lexicon. Not because of rigging, but because Obi gutted the oppositon in the South, in essence making a win against APC Impossible. Not because of INEC, but because LP could not mobilize votes except in the SE, Lagos, and some parts of the middle belt. Nothing in the North and SW. APC should have been voted out. BY a wide margin. BUt the same problem that prevented the oppiositon from beating PDP In 2011, and even 2003, is the same issue that happened here.

But the scary thing is that even if we got APC Out, we would still face the same problems we face now. Back to square one, only this time, it would be tinubu supporters openly calling for coup. Because for Nigerians it is about my side winning, even if the country is burning.

NIgerians need to understand that army rule did not work in the past, and it would not work today, or tomorrow. It may make us in the oppisiton happy when we have gotten rid of APC, TINUBU and the evil geng of thieves, but what next? After the reggae comes the blues.

SO, what is the answer? Force the apc government to do the right thing. We have that power. But also accept that doing the right thing means some hard effing choices. God knows , we had to make them, whoever is in charge. More tax revenue, diversification, allowing the power and petrol sector set their prices, aggresively fighting corruption.

These set of military men are not like those God fearing ones that once ruled Nigeria.

The army men that ruled Nigeria were not god fearing. Not at all. They did the same old corruption and same old evil. And many of them were inolved in some of the most brutal coups in Nigerian history. Like the July coup of 1966. Too bad they don;t teach histroy in schools.

Plus they took our economy from being diversifed in 1966, to being oil dependent and at risk for failure by 1986. Which is the genesis of our problem

Shall I tell you about the tribalisim, religious crisis, and harsh rule and denial of rights, especially in the period of 1983-99. Or the massive corruption and waste of all the army eras?

NIgerians are Nigerians, whether in army uniform or civillian uniform. Even the Nigerian factor wrecked Biafra...and am not talking about army attack.

Yes that’s true but there was stability then and also remember IBB, Abacha, Obasanjo, Yaradua to an extent, Jonathan and buhari govts all embezzled billions of dollars but the best form of government for Nigeria now in my own opinion will be confederation as that will allow regions develop at their own pace and also protect their regions from increasing terrorism from bandits and Fulani herdsmen

There was stability then, eh?

1983-92 was one long period of religious crisis after crisis. Add tribal crisis, and even violent armed robbery issues, plus growing poverty....

Even after 1992, there were issues. Strikes, more strikes, and once again growing poverty.

And religious and ethnic crisis .

Okay.

Oga, rest! Democracy has its pros and cons and so is the military rule.

Most of the best infrastructural projects in Nigeria were built by the military, including the refineries whereas these criminal civilians have been in power for 25 years and they can neither build one new refinery nor maintain those they met. Meanwhile, oil and gas industry is supposed to be Nigeria's major source of money.

The bastard child was still a minor, that was the stability we experienced then.
You see,the generations of politicians that would have performed excellently in a confederacy are long dead. Don't you know these 4th Republic governors are criminals/mini presidents. Their monthly allocations have increased by 70% what have they done with it? Paying workers salaries is war, they divert LG allocations and ensured the bill to give LG financial autonomy was crushed.
The way I see it is that Nigeria is a dying empire. Symptoms that led to the fall of all empires, aside external invasion,is evident already. Possibly, a new Nigeria may emerge
