There are politicians in Esanland who know the issues and how to solve them.

This guy can start by being a special assistant to the gorvernor if he really wants to help, not just jump to the top table, to spend time understanding the terrain and local issues.

He wasn't even a PDP member 6 months ago, at least all the APC aspirants have held long term membership of their party.

PDP shame on you, di see finish wey you dey do for Edo pipo no go end well lai lai.

So isn't he one of the "politicians in Esanland who know the issues and how to solve them"? And doesn't his leadership experience in the corporate world (which is more ruthless than all these state politics) sufficient experience instead of him being an SA. An executive governor has all the powers to "execute" than an SA who only provides ideas. We honestly need to step out of the mentality of expecting someone to speak the local language before than be seen as a "real" Ishan/Bini/Urhobo. I don't know this guy personally and have no inclination to support or oppose him as I'm not from Edo. But it's very disheartening to read that "he doesn't speak the language" should be enough grounds to "disqualify" him from running. If he has proven experience (corporate or political) to execute as a governor, let's focus on that rather than whether he can speak his local dialect or whether he only just joined active politics 6 months or 24 years ago

He is only Esan by ancestry.

Doesn't speak the language, has never schooled or lived there.

Companies he is director of have no prescence over there.

Came all the way from Ibadan via Lagos to attempt to be another technocrat gorvernor.

Has zero idea of what it feels like to live and work in Esanland or even Ẹdo state.

We thought APC were shameless in the way they conducted their primaries, trust PDP to drag the bar even lower.

Local politics for local politicians on ground.
He doesn't speak esan language but we like him like that

There are other more important factors than language. He was parachuted into the position. He knows nothing about what is important to the people.

He will be another Obaseki, beholden to no one but homsrlf.we don't need any technocrats in the state.

You can't run a state you know nothing about, regardless of business experience, as Obaseki proved.

He is coming in because it is Esan's turn apparently.

Hopefully he will listen to the local people he appoint, unlike his oga obaseki that fought with everyone.

Don’t be a fool you low budget demon, Asue ighodalo spent many of his holidays in Benin and Esanland and at many point lived in those areas. He was always coming to Benin and Esanland intermittently and grew up with Okowa and some other boys who were his age set at the time. He swam in Ogba river at airport road, Benin City. When he came of age because of the love he has for his people, he drew electricity to Ewohimi, how many of them who can say proverbs in Esan did that, we want development, don’t campaign and foist nonsense on us if not nature will not forgive you.

The prime minister of Uk today is of Indian descent. When has been able to speak a language equate competency. Is lucky igbinedion and Oshiomhole not proficient in their native dialect? What did they bring to the table? We want development in Edo and you apc 30k guys cannot stop us. My people hear from the horses mouth, they don’t do research, but they are so eager to foist a thief and a failure on a state they are not from. This is Asue ighodalo speaking. Cc Slaawomirr

Obaseki fought against Godfather imposition only for him to impose his stooge Ighodalo and become his godfather

Oshiomole fought against Anenih godfatherism only to become a godfather to Obaseki

What this only prove is that people are hypocrites and they only turn into activists seeking public favor when the game does not favor them
oshiomole and anenih ain't in same party na..

The Chairman of the Primary Committee, Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal-Dare announced that Ighodalo scored 577 votes, Anselm Ojezua 0, Osaro 0, Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu 1 vote.

Also present was the host Governor, Godwin Obaseki, Co-Chairmam of the Primary Committee Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, members of the National Working Committee of the PDP and representatives of INEC.

Lol 😁 swaihibu... 1 vote 🤪

... To those saying Godfatherism this and that, firstly that ish can never happen in my state any longer.
Secondly it's time for esan, shuaibu is just seeking favoritsm cos he was vice but deep down he knows it's esan time.
I'm not a fan of esan people but one thing we Edos are and should be known for is " We are unique, we don't move with the crowd, we mean our words and we call a spade a spade"
Ps* Edolites are observing the candidates and as usual we will go for who's more deserving regardless of party... So yes obaseki knows Edo people... He knows it's far from over!

He did not betray Shuabi bro. Shuabi messed up his very bright chances by being too forward and disloyal. He showed up too much he should have learnt fro Fubara though in his case was an Accountant General of Rivers state but the way he maintained a mumu was what made Wike picked him and made him Governor. But shuabi was too proud of himself and the senior man would always want to dish out some lessons which most times is learnt the hard way!

Now the journey to government house has started, just ignore Philip, he has no say in Edo politics. But watch osho baba with one eye open oooo

Either of these two will happen if Shuaib Philip lost out with that result announced against him.

(1) The probability of him to decamp away from PDP is very high. He may still go ahead and contest on one unpopular party, not to necessarily win the election but to make a political statement that he's matter when it come to Edo politics.

(2). He may decide to stay in PDP after his lost if the result is upheld, and work with the major opposition party in the state after some political bargaining.

He may as well decamp to APC if he's position as deputy Governor can be assured and work against PDP.

Whichever way it goes, we keep enjoying the drama .
