Debt isn’t bad if used for rightful purposes.

Gov Sanwo-Olu, take Lagos off the grid before you leave and build a power generating station.

Will be a game changer for the state. It’s close to the coast, so Lagos can harness wind, solar and even gas. We can also start incinerating waste for power generation. All these can be combined for a solid 2000 mega watt.

We can sell some to neighbouring state and retain them if we need them in the future. Also, electricity sold to Lagosians would mean money would be generated to pay back debt.

We will have streetlights and CCTV across the state for enhanced security that state police could utilise once the bill gets passed in the NA.

Gov, think proactively and May God continue to be your guide!!

Well spoken if you want to borrow use it to invest in power generation and transportation
What will generate income to pay debt

In essence, Lagos State has the capacity to become the poorest state in Nigeria while pretending to be rich. I guess that's what the governor is trying to say

Lagos State is a rich state, revenue enter it's account every second. Lagos State does not need to borrow money, the revenue is enough to cover all it's expenses both capital and current expenditure, unless if there is misappropriation of public fund.

I really missed Ambode, he did not give room for misappropriation of Lagos State revenue.
Ambode made life easy for Lagosians.
very true. I missed Ambode Administration too. Much transparency and accountability in AMBODE government.

not entirely true. Some profession requires deep understanding not half baked common sense. This is because common sense often requires experience but experience is a shortcoming when its impossible to experience everything before drawing a reasonable conclusion

Good point.
The problem is not debt it is what is been done with the debt. United states is probably the most indebted country in the world. As we speak the rest of the world is going into recession while the US economy is growing with almost full employment of all citizens willing to work.
The problem with Nigeria is most of the loan goes into peoples pocket to the detriment of the purpose for which it was obtained.

Exactly. All the others added debt, from jagaban to the current one except Ambode. Yet we saw his impact in all sectors. Ambode is a seasoned administrator and financial expert compared to the others. Eg, I had a fellow that joined the service under the guy before amobide. This fellow was in a lot of cash, he dropped cash for a whole house to be built and delivered turnkey. Back them the guy will meet chicks and introduce himself with 200k. Immediately amobide came in, levels changed. Omo, cash reduced. Ambode blocked all the loopholes they used to enrich themselves.
As I always say, you give 2 people 1m, one will manage that 1m, turn it around, and with time that money will grow. When you see his achievements , you will be shocked. Meanwhile the other fellow would have blown his, be broke and in debt within the same period.
We have always had the second person described above as our politicians.

Obviously borrowing for future regimes to struggle with paying back. Lagosians should be ready to use the train enough to pay the debts

How many foreign states or countries in Africa borrowed from Lagos State?
Must you borrow on behalf of Lagos State to keep unborn generations of Lagos State in debt?

Borrow trillions and the city state that Tinubu alone built remains a glorified ghetto without ordinary water supply in every building.
Are we all supposed to be clowns

Lagos, the commercial hub of Nigeria, has been ranking as one of the worst places to live in the world for the nine straight years, a BusinessDay analysis shows.

Data from the 2019 Global Liveability Index published by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), the world’s leader in global business intelligence, shows the city has been within the range of 137th-139th position out of a total of 140 cities in the world from year 2011-2019.

The EIU examines the quality of health care, education, infrastructure, stability, and culture when assessing living conditions of each city. More than 30 factors are taken into account when calculating each rank, which are then complied into a weighted score between one and 100.
