Nigeria Customs Service has launched nationwide auction of seized goods, including bags of rice priced at N10,000.

At a press briefing in Lagos, Comptroller-General Bashir Adeniyi stressed the initiative's role in ensuring food security and accessibility.

The NCS, with government approval, plans to distribute confiscated items at reduced prices to deserving Nigerians such as artisans, teachers, nurses and religious groups.

Adeniyi highlighted concerns about food security amidst economic challenges, citing significant outflows of food items to neighboring countries.

Good one! Seize all the export-bound essentials and auction to to Nigerian.

Cement, spaghetti, Garri, yam, flour, beans, maize, guinea corn, etc, should be seized and auctioned.

The rice is not meant to feed people forever, it's a stop gap solution.
If u can have 5 children u should have a sustainable means of feeding them.

They will sell to their friends and cronies. They will use other individuals to buy on their behalf and this is the nature of the average Nigerian. Totally selfish.

These measures are temporary and not sustainable but we Must acknowledge it is better than nothing

The most annoying part is some Over smart people are already planning how to buy up the rice, go rebrand it and sell at market price undecided #bad govt #crazy people

what makes you think saboteurs won't use proxies to buy up the bags of rice, load it somewhere to rebrand and sell later at market value ...

i heard they demand NIN at the point of sales, but with the hunger in the land people can be easily bought to do just anything,
las las make Govt open border lets people fend for themselves that is what wil kill middlemen/saboteurs
