There is nothing hunger can not do. It can reset the brain, reset the economy, and evolve a new system of governance.

It isn't.
In a parliamentary system, the Northern party will always have more seats and consequently be the primary coalition partner for every government.
The current North-South alternation of the Presidency will give way to successive Northern PMs and they can call for a snap election or vote of confidence when there is a Southern PM.

The North hardly ever scores an own goal.
This is a deliberate attempt to tighten their vice grip on the polity after the Mu-Mu ticket and Tinubu's abrasive conduct.

The South must categorically reject this move.
Or at the very least demand for a wholesale restructuring from the current 36 states + FCT to 6 regions + FCT.
That way, we can form a coalition of 3 Southern regions and the MB (lean into the benefits on security and economy) to contain the domineering tendencies of the Core North.

Sadly, Southern politicians are often found wanting. I have little hope they’ll deftly navigate past this iceberg.

Did you read what you quoted?
Once resource control is in place The Federal government will be very small
The North will always have more seats?
Is that in the Qur'an or the Bible?

It is a wise decision for the Northern Elders Forum to talk about to a parliamentary system, as it allows for more diverse representation and fair decisionmaking.

Maybe by then, no one will be screaming marginalization this and that.

If you want to have a conversation that is fine if you want to give a lecture find someone else
Don't tell me to get with any programme and don't address me that way
The starting point for me is self respect and courtesy to others. So do not talk to me anyhow
It that is too much to ask
Just dey your dey

You asked me to "read what I quoted", and now you're taking offense with "get with the program".
How is it not obvious to you that the North will have more legislative seats in a parliamentary system when they already do now?
This is Civics 101.

In this system you call a "good idea", odds are we'll revert to regional parties.
The NW, NE, and part of the MB will vote as a bloc.
The Southern regions will be at loggerheads.
The Unified North will have the majority and pick any of the Southern parties to form a coalition.
In the off chance that pigs did fly and the three Southern regions coalesced, we'll still need the MB to form a coalition.
Does such a coalition sound stable to you.

The resource control you allude to is a Southern talking point.
The North has not acquiesced to that position.
In any case, resource control without regionalism is not ideal.
It is an arrangement that'll lead to more Wikes, Okowas, and Soludos.
Folks who will torpedo their indigenous and regional interests for personal aggrandizement.

It is astounding to me that you would call a system that disenfranchises the South more than it does currently a "good idea".

We were enjoying our parliamentary system of government until those evil guys decided to strike.

It shall never be well with those people from that barren region that planned and carried out the coup of 1966.

As if that wasn't enough, they went a step further to abolish regional government simply because they wanted to lord over ever region.

Until that moment, we had something that looked like a country. The country was set on reverse gear for decades because of that one single moment by those guys from the barren land.

After denying them another shot at the throne for many years, they are so determined to get another chance, this time to completely bury what is left of the dungeon. Thankfully, the majority of the populace have seen their intention. They are never getting a shot at it anymore and they mustn't be allowed to secede, not after destroying our country.

We are not returning to parliamentary system, we'll maintain this system till the day we get someone who will restructure it.

That's a big lie, middle belt have left North, plateau, Benue, Kogi, Kwara, Abuja, are more of southern states than North, plus half of Kaduna and taraba

This is why a southerner should be the president when the move to parliamentary system is made so we can carve the constituencies to give everyone a level playing ground
Re: Enough Is Enough : Northern Elders Forum Back Reture To Parliamentary System by StaffofOrayan(m): 6:52am On Feb 25
Once a southerner becomes president, the north always have something to agitate for! Do people still fall for this gimmick? Once upon a time it was sharia, then terrorism now this nonsense,

A people that wants such change of government structure would have been agitating for over a decade!

Look at that shameless woman's speech after her meeting with tinubu "what are you going to do about the Almajiri children" imagine these clowns asking a southerner what he intends to do about their children that they the elites have destroyed their lives? A very shameless bunch!

It will be fair to assess their (middle belt) voting pattern during Jonathan/Buhari contest under Jega .

I could not find the stats on INEC’s website.
Do you data on this under Jega’s INEC?

The favorite stock in trade of Southern intellectuals is underestimating the North.
You want us to return to a system that we could only change with a military coup.

Decades down the line, your progenies will find it bewildering you could make such a shocking error.
Those who do not learn from history and bound to repeat it.

Benue just voted for the same party under which massacres occurred.
Kogi and Kwara vote with the North.
What happens when the Core North for self-preservation halts it onslaught of Middle Beltan communities?
What then? Would the South still be able to reel them in, or would they return to familiar alliances?

We have people who can't see beyond their noses in the South.
And they often land us in deep craters when their optimism turn out to be far-fetched.
