Delayed reporting at N1620. The naira has appreciated again when I just checked.

When will it reach #700 that Tinubu met it?

Its when naira gets below 700 that we would assume its appreciating.

So if Tinubu get the dollar to #5,000and it gets to #4,950, you will say its appreciating?

At this point, when the Naira falls, it will be at its absolute devalued state, because CBN have already exhausted all the strategies and funds they can employ, as well as laid blames on all the non-factors... Basically, it is now out of CBN's control.

So at least everyone can finally admit that the ship is sinking.

What about when it falls to 2000 for a dollar, will you still be saying the same thing? You guys don't realize what's happening. The wealthiest Nigerians are buying up dollar for a reason. They are not fools and you should be doing it to.

Exactly or peg it to N1000. Working poor are hangry.. Middle class are hungry and savings eroded. The rich have seen their net worth evaporated. They mega wealthy have lost over 70% of their net worth… so cumulatively in formal and informal sectors, over $100bn has been lost due to Naira floating and subsidy removal… How much have saved? Net zero
It's too late

Naira will depreciate further to #2k. Binance or crypto currency’s not to be blame. It’s the clueless harsh economy policies of Tinubu government that should be reversed

Well, a floated currency not propped by loans is meant to fluctuate depending on how demand and supply affect it.

The aim now should be increasing the demand for the Naira whilst diminishing the need for foreign currencies.

This can only happen if importation is largely reduced in favor of exports.

Local production and consumption remain the way forward.

Naira is going to fall and keep falling until we make manufacturing the basis of our economy like serious nations and also improve tax to gdp ratios as well.

The reason why naira is falling is because the source of our economy is basically oil money. Oil money is dependent on oil prices which never favor us at all. If we want sensible money from oil, we have to have it above 130 dollars , for ten to twenty years running, and crude production increases at the same time

Any oil economy, even the good looking ones, are vulnerable economies. That is Nigeria for you.

Indeed naira has been falling and continues to fall. That it has fallen badly under tinubu regime has a lot to do with the fact that decades of borrowing and bad economics led us here.

We can still make it if we only do manufacturing and export of manufactured goods and allow the free market to operate here.

Or we can go and peg the naira to 200 to one dollar, subsjdisze fuel to 40 naira per liter and pretend we are showing the IMF shege, while we loan and take more loans to maintain the charade

I did not say corruption is not contributing, or that we have a good government..the fact of the naira falling since 1973 is a sign we haven't had good government for decades.

Apc better take the hard decisions and stop bothering about winning

will removal of fuel subsidy no longer solve Nigeria's problems?

all the savings from the "removal" of fuel subsidy, what has been done with it?

A Qatari Riyal is 3.64 to a dollar. I beg, how many things are they manufacturing and what is their tax to gdp ratio?

if you say "The reason why naira is falling is because the source of our economy is basically oil money", why is the Qatari Riyal and Saudi Riyal (3.75 to a dollar) not falling?

is the source of their economy basically not oil?

under the present situation, who do you want to tax?

all the taxes that have been taxed so far, what has been done with it?

Naira floating is the worst decision ever made. Retailer capitalizes on it to increase price daily. For instance, Yesterday, dollar rose from 1500 to 1600 then bread rises from 800 to 1000; if it later dollar comes down to 1400 today, bread remains at 1000 regardless, then tomorrow it goes up to 1490 then bread rises again from 1000 to 1200.
Pls, who is doing who? Retailers should please and please.
Even if dollar is 3000. Let it stay there and not fluctuate for a long time. Govt please and please.

it will never work, attacking Binance, cryptocurrency will never bring any results to them, now btc has hit $68k. I guess they will attack btc rise too. First thing Tinubu should do is to sack the clueless Cardoso that never know the economy of Nigeria and how it will be runned. Naira will continue to fall apart. Crypto currency’s has been in existence for more than 15 years now and it keeps increasing by the day. They don’t invest in manufacturing sector, they don’t invest in Agriculture economy, they don’t invest in security sector, it’s Binance and crypto currency’s they are attacking. The black market rate will soon hit 2k per dollar

my brother it doesn’t work that way. It will even be worse in the long run. The first solution is for Tinubu to sack the cardoso that doesn’t understand what Nigeria economy entails.

why floating the naira when they know that it will never work in the Nigeria economy. Now see the level of inflation in the Nigeria economy. The clueless Cardoso is even much confused with his clueless bad approach to the economy. Soon the dollar rate will hit 2k per dollar and you will see them ranting that it’s Binance and crypto currency’s that makes the naira to keep falling apart

You meant the Naira that's already everywhere chasing fewer products. Or how else would you describe getting significantly lesser value for the same amount of money?

If local production is ongoing and ramped up (at affordable costs), demand for imports could reduce - especially that for food.

But, when the government doesn't encourage that local production with necessary amenities and adequate security, what are we talking about? undecided

local production can never increase when the power plant is been collapsing daily, insecurity too is another problem. The huge problem I see here is the clueless large spending of the executive and legislative arm of government. They should disciplined themselves by reducing their salaries downward for 12 months in order to rescue our economy. Then we can start from there.
