Umuhu Okabia Secondary School Alumni Association Holds Its First Physical Alma M by VONN50: 1:47pm On Mar 09
The first physical meeting of the Umuhu Okabia Secondary school Association in Orsu local government area of Imo state held on Sunday, the 3rd March, 2024.
In a welcome /Introductory address, the president of the Association Denis C. Iheadiri who was also the 1995 set senior prefect appreciated all the executives and members for their unwavering support both financially and more.
He appreciated God who have kept them this past 29 years.

The president stated the aims/objectives of the Alumni which includes:
Re-uniting and synergizing in order to pursue a common goal, promoting peace, love and mutual co-existence in Okabia and its environ, to give assistance /support to members, to join hand with other interested bodies to bring about quick and steady development in both economic and social lives of members both within the state and abroad. To build human capital through training and education and to provide assistance /support to members in cases such as:sickness, accidents, distress, unemployment, intimidation, disability, birth and death.
Also recounted is the achievements attained so far that includes; Drafting of the Alumni Association Constitution,, registration of the Umuhu Okabia Secondary School Alumni Association, the Alumni Association, Supported some of our members where necessary, Lent helping hands to our sick members, funded the business of the wife of our departed member and many more.

Some members of the Alumni association interviewed which included Mrs Ifeyinwa Iheadinotu who is the leader of the women`s wing expressed her joy in the success of being able to hold the meeting and advice those who could not be present due to one reason or the other get all relevant information from members and endeavour to be part of the union in the next meeting that will tentatively be holding in their Alma mata.

Another member popularity known as Igbos was able to attend the meeting, coming all the way from Bayelsa state, said nothing could deter him not to have made it. He felt delighted and expressed the essence of being there for each other as we all need one another.

In the same vein, the president lamented over so many challenges being encountered in the state, particularly in the local government and the attendant effect on their Alma mata.
Foremost of this challenges is the complete destruction of their Alma mata and sought for interventions in rebuilding the school and restoration of peace and harmonious living from all asundry.

Furthermore, the interventions of the ministry of education and the state government have been sought especially help in the rebuilding of the school.

Another challenge noted was how to support members who are not doing well financially.

All students of 1995 set of Umuhu Okabia comprehensive secondary school, Orsu local government area in Imo state and other sets are enjoined to identify with the association.

The need for more solidarity to safeguard, protect and preserve their Alma mata was emphasized. All members who have been lending support in one way or another was acknowledged and other old boys and girls of the school are called upon to support the school financially and in rebuilding the school that has been completely raise down.

The president use the medium to advice all students and prospective students of the school not to give up their dreams as the gains of education cannot be over emphasized. He cautioned against dropping out of school.
He further requested that, all old students who have not associated with them should do so as everyone has a role to play in building and sustaining their Alma
mata.
