Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti has provided insight on the real circumstances surrounding the recently commissioned Geometric Power Project in Aba which is said to have capacity to power up to nine local government areas.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R6U4WHyMseg

Aba residents have repeatedly said despite the commissioning of the project, there has not been improvement in the quality of power supply they get.

The governor in an interaction with journalists in Umuahia on Monday however said the process of generating, transmitting and distributing power is long and requires patience.

According to the governor, before the distribution of the generated megawatts, there should be a process of mapping which he said takes time.

The governor said there is about 15MW on the first turbine from zero megawatts, saying it will be fed into the grid before the end of March.

"If Geometric is able to feed 15MW into the island, don't forget that we are coming from sometimes zero, five, or ten.

"I remember we were putting pressure on the Niger Delta Power Holding to at least give us 20MW for Aba and it was difficult. So it requires a little bit of patience.

"I am told also that people around Umuide and co have been enjoying constant power supply, so it's not everywhere.

"As the capacity improves, they must sell the power, if they don't sell the power, it's useless to them and they can't money", he said.

Despite #10 billion monthly FAAC allocation, Alex Otti has be accused of plunging Abia into monumental debt with no single result to show..A Twitter user narrated the debt as follows:

Extra $125m loan from the Islamic Bank. This is +/- N200bn extra.

Add: +/-N100bn borrowed in 2023 from Access Bank in 10/23. Borrowed and paid to Acess Bank's owner for no specific contract(s). An open check.

Add: +/-N50bn from Union Bank in 09/23.

Add: +/-N400bn borrowings for the 2024 FY budget.

Add: +/-N120bn secured by the past administration from AfDB. His government is the benefactor.

Add: +/-N150bn via FAAC/IGR/Grants. Abia gets about +/-N14bn p/month since the removal of subsidy. In comparison, the past administration was receiving about +/-N5bn per month. Figure out the massive differences.

Less: +/- not more than 30KM of roads statewide re-asphalted, which were overly stated and still from every reasonable indice shouldn't be more than N20bn. Note: Not newly constructed roads.

Less: His online propaganda machine.

Divide: +/-N50bn earned by the LGAs in Abia, which he is controlling the funds for. Which LGA in abia can boast of a N500mn infrastructure project?

In less than one year into Dr. Otti's tenure, Abia's debt profile continues to rise. The state is approaching a N1trn borrowing under the current government.

In a comparison of similar situations, Charles Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra state has accomplished much with zero debt and minimal publicity, despite some camps' efforts to discredit his successes.

Dr. Otti, jirikwa ya nwayo!!!

Do the communities also enjoy regular water supply?
What improvements have happened since the communist LP labourer governor got into the job

He should try to be better than Tinubu, Fashola, Ambode and Sanwo Olu in this regard.

Lawmaker scores Lagos Water Corporation low

A Lagos State lawmaker, Mr Saka Fafunmi, on Thursday expressed dissatisfaction at the performance of the state Water Corporation.

Fafunmi, a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly (LAHA), said in Ikeja that the corporation had not been able to justify statutory allocations to it.

The lawmaker, who represents Ifako-Ijaiye Constituency 1 at the assembly, spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

He said that the corporation had the capacity to generate much fund internally through water rates but had relied solely on government funding because of poor performance.

'' Anyone that is using water will be willing to pay for it; the corporation has not been giving us water.

"Is there any new community that Water Corporation has given water? People depend on boreholes; even government estates have industrial boreholes.

"Why do we keep pumping money into an agency that does not give us the desired results?'' he asked.

He noted that the Adiyan Waterworks was located at Ifako-Ijaiye, where many of the residents had resorted to digging boreholes as a means of getting water.

''A lot of people are falling sick because they don't drink clean water.

''In the same compound, where you have sewage, is where you have a borehole.

''There is no way you can manage the sewage that it will not leak and pollute the water; everyone drinking such is drinking contaminated water,'' he said.

The lawmaker urged the corporation to increase water reticulation and supply to residents.

Until major cities like Lagos, Kano, PH, Abuja start producing at least 10,000MW each, I won't take Nigerian leaders serious on electricity

The Lagos that was built from nothing does it enjoy regular water supply? Which state does? Nigerians have resorted to providing water for themselves. It’s wrong but it is what it is.

So, let the Governor breeeeth! He is trying compared to what Abians have been going through since.
