It is the view of this newspaper that the constitutional provision detailing why and how governors or deputy governors can be removed from office have been abused by state assemblies over the years.

Impeachment is being used to settle political scores, which is not the objective of the constitution. Section 188 is clear on this.

This suggests that gross misconduct is whatever the lawmakers say it is. And it is exactly why the process has been abused over the years. We believe that the constitution needs to be amended to narrow down what amounts to gross misconduct as it relates to the impeachment of public officers.

And as long as the chief judge goes along with it, the case gives the lawmakers the powers to impeach the deputy governor for insulting the governor. And yet, it is the deputy governor that is accused of abusing his powers.

This is not a fight you can win as thuggery and intellectual limitations do have limits.

What are your options?

(1) Approach a court and get a restraining order against the governor and house of assembly.

(2) Once you score that victory, stay in PDP and work hard against the governor's candidate. You can team up with the dude in LP, just ensure you do G5 on Obaseki.

(3) Reconcile with the governor and work for the party to avoid being witch-hunted.

(4) Whether you succeed with (1) and (2) above, retire from politics.

You are clearly someone who has latched on the shoulders of others; unfortunately, you could not stand on your own. Now that you are trying to, you have done it the most ridiculous way. You fought too many people and amassed enemies for yourself. Obaseki is not someone to stick out your neck for as he is clearly an ingrate. The fight between both of you was long foreseen. Unfortunately for you, he has the upper hand.

Now is the time to apply your brains and pray for a miracle.

If you come to another life, understand that politics is about building relationships.

Anyway, let me further advise you. Start leaking all Obaseki's dirty deals to the press, if any. Also sponsor people to write petitions to the EFCC against Obaseki so that he can be arrested as soon as he vacates office. This is common among ex-governors.

As things stand, you have no political future in Edo State, except a miracle happens. You can as well drag Obaseki down so that both of you can lick your wounds together when you lose.

I am advising you now because Obaseki has gone all out against you. You must do the same!

The only way to fight and win a state governor is to have the State House of Assembly on your side. Even a governor will have hard time if the state of assembly isn't on his side. Now you want to fight a State governor who still has control over the legislators

Obaseki wan make sure say Shauibu no got fit contest for governorship position again in the future with this impeachment bruhaha.
