•Nigeria to attend anti-terrorists’ summit
From ISAAC ANUMIHE, Abuja
Tuesday, November 15, 2011

The Algerian Deputy Foreign Minister has said intelligence reports showed there is coordination between Boko Haram and the Algerian-based North African branch of al Qaeda.

Boko Haram has killed dozens of people. Western security experts said any link-up with al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) could make it a more potent threat, especially to Nigeria’s energy sector.

“We have no doubts that coordination exists between Boko Haram and al Qaeda,” Abdelkader Messahel told reporters. “The way both groups operate and intelligence reports show that there is cooperation.”

AQIM grew out of a conflict in Algeria between the government and Islamist militants. In the past few years it has expanded its activities to include Mali, Niger and Mauritania but was not thought to have reached as far south as Nigeria.

Algeria’s assessment of ties between AQIM and Boko Haram carries authority because Algeria has the biggest intelligence-gathering operation on al Qaeda of any country in the region. It tallies with the view of some in the Nigerian military, who said Boko Haram was increasingly linking up with global jihadist movements.

The sect said it had carried out multiple gun and bomb attacks that killed 65 people in and around Damaturu earlier this month in its deadliest attack yet. Boko Haram also said it was behind a suicide bomb attack on the United Nations building in Abuja, in August this year. At least 23 people were killed and 76 injured in the attack.
It was the first known use in Nigeria of suicide bombing, a tactic commonly used by AQIM inside Algeria. The Algerian Deputy Foreign Minister said that in light of the ties between Boko Haram and AQIM, Nigerian officials were scheduled to attend a regional summit in Mauritania in December to coordinate the fight against al Qaeda.

Drones only work when you are dealing with insurgents (Desert dwellers)! You dont want a drone opening fire on a crowded street or neighborhood, do you?

Not surprising at all, afterall I was screaming about this on NL for months, the truth is that Nigerians do not care enough about the situation. By the time the slow-poke Southerners actually realize what going on, it will be too late to collectively take action. SlaveCoast=Niger Area. What a waste, what a disgrace, this SELL OUT Race!

ok IT MUST BE TRUE
they have a set of people in their country they wish to destroy.

It is mindboggling!! I am not in Nigeria yet, I can almost see this moving south in no time. This group has been able to go as far south as Abuja, yet there are so many in the more southern parts of Nigeria who still believe this problem could not spread.

Only two years ago, people could not imagine a Nigerian suicide bomber . . . today it is more than a reality yet people are still unable to grasp the enormity of this.

What will happen? What will the majority southern spineless beings do to em? We could not even fight the scourge of MEND . . . had to bribe them to make them play nice. Abeg stop bragging about NOTHING AS USUAL -- typical Nigerian ALL MOUTH BUT NO ACTION moves. . . .We all know this is the reality even in the south.

The FG couldn't fight MEND, because guilty conscience no go gree them. They sabi say na dem dey at fault. Tell me how else our Niger-Delta brothers could've made their voices loud enough to our ignorant, greedy and deaf FG?
They came to their lands all in the name of oil mining. Ngwanu, if na to even drill and steal all the oil, no wahala. But can you justify polluting their air with toxic waste, polluting their drinking water with toxic crap, killing off their major means of livelihood (the fishes), and then leaving them used, hungry and economically crippled, without a source of food? let's not even go there. The FG sabi say na dem mess up big time, and I support the struggle (even though it's been hijacked by greedy politicians with ulterior motives).
But as for Boko? Which case dem get? Just killing people incessantly because they forcefully want to turn the entire country into a haven of moon-worshipping illiterates.
Abeg, the attack on Boko's is DEFINITELY welcome!
