Nonsense! Who else is expected to sacrifice for the welfare of his own child? undecided

But you, @Kobojunkie, are one of the major promoters of "your kids are not your retirement plan". And parents shouldn't have a say in a child's life. I believe the child in question is an adult (based on legal age). Why can't the son take responsibility of his educational pursuit as done in "saner climes"?

The earlier we appreciate the uniqueness of our African culture, the better we will live. Not everything has to be done as is seen in the West.

Parents sacrifice for their children, and hope the children will in turn care for them in old age. Shekinan!

You are not making any sense to me! A brood remains dependent until the parents have adequately provided for the brood to step out into the world to stand on its own. This parent is aware that he has not done all since the brood still is yet to be fully educated by the standard that is today. The job of the parent as provider and caretaker does not end when the child turns 16 or 18. NO, it ends when the parent is done fulfilling his responsibilities towards said child. undecided

2. The only thing unique about African culture is that it attempts in every way possible to that which has been proven useless all while it continues to pretend to be for the times we live in. undecided

Sacrifice and investment with no returns. The same children whose parents drained the Central Bank.

Other children are working to pay their ways and sending money home.

Our mumu don do.
