Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has said only 137 and not 287 schoolchildren were abducted in Kuriga, Chikun Local Government Area of the state.

Sani clarified while featuring on Channels Television’s programme, Sunday Politics.

He said all the schoolchildren abducted by marauding bandits have been rescued by the military in collaboration with local authorities from neighbouring Zamfara State.

The schoolchildren were abducted from LEA Primary School and Government Secondary School, Kuriga, about four weeks ago.

The Defence Headquarters said on Saturday that a total of 137 students were rescued, contrary to reports that 287 children were abducted by bandits on March 6.

The relieved governor said the number released by the military is the authentic figure, describing “287” as a figment of some people’s imagination.

Sani, however, regretted that a teacher who was kidnapped alongside the pupils couldn’t make it out alive as he developed some complications while in captivity.

He commiserated with the family of the deceased teacher and consoled the families of the released schoolchildren.

If you really rescued them, what happened to the terrorists that kidnapped them?

Hope they didn't pay any ransom sha... Cos if that was what they did, next time, it's gonna be 500 kidnapped students, it's not a curse. You pay them, they procure more guns, feed fat, kidnap more and the cycle continues.

By the way, SHAME on the north. The region with the highest population with the least contribution to Nigeria's GDP and the highest contributor to her problems. Northern politicians really need to sit and examine each other's brains!

Una pay ransom or una no pay ransom?

Why are we not hearing anything about their abductors ? We should be seeing their dead bodies or being neutralized by the Armed forces .. if they weren’t captured , then this mission doesn’t impress us at all.

Where is all the confusion coming from? If you release the victims without getting hold of the kidnappers then the same incident will keep re occurring. This people are hiding a lot.

Truth is coming out on how the sharing formula is. I remembered when banks were robbed the manager put forward a higher stolen amount to CBN and insurance but when soludo changed the matter to manager shld first be arrested and locked up then bank robbery reduces. Now it's kidnapping figures abi, 287 =1Billion, but 137=

, they play.
