I'm a Muslim I condemn this act in every way. Why Nigerians should be spending money on religion going Hajj shouldn't be a must.
Antichristian, what's your opinion on this?

Anyone who read this thread knows very well that there is a lot wrong with this wastefulness.
For people, defending this act by the government, I pray that your children should use your life's savings for pilgrimages.

See guys, no matter how hard you try, you can't defend mediocrity.

Well, let me still assume that this is only a mere rumour.
Nonetheless, the most baffling thing is that all these attack ends here.

Lol!

After seeing the serious inroads that Peter Obi is making into the core Muslim north, Bulaba has decided to try to measure up by bribing northern Muslims with subsidized Hajj.

Or tell me why an administration that claims it wants to implement the Orosanya Report would still be subsidizing Hajj whilst that report recommended that government should stop funding both Muslim and Christian Pilgrimages.

Fear don catch Emilokan while his supporters are on Nairaland living in fools paradise 😏

Obi LP and Atiku PDP would have done the same thing.

It was a cry for govt assistance bcoz of the high exchange rate even though I don't subscribe to sponsoring pple on pilgrimage.

Wasting of tax payers money.

The politicians should stop wasting our common wealth on religion, on daily basis, one church or mosque are being erected in Nigeria yet the rate of crime is increasing, abeg who exactly have they been preaching to?

Saudi women are now allowed to join beauty pageant while the Nigeria religious people are still beclouded

lol. 90 billion subsidy to the northern big men oooo , just to go and stone Satan in Saudi Arabia, while the poor northerners have no access to safe drinking water that Mr Obi is trying to lend some help, yet somebody is behind the keyboard justifying the needless hypocritical waste of huge amount of 90 billion naira, on religious frivolities, and you think such person is still normal with function able brain. just allow him to continue with his delusional mindset of always seeing good in every evil, while seeing evil in every goodness, because no rebuke can ever heal his heart that is filled with hatred.
It’s such a pitiful life they are living honestly 🤦

1. Government does subsidise electricity

2.. Government also does give some subsidy to some industries eg the cement industry. Tax waivers and the likes

Just shut it abeg, 90billion is a whole lot of money to waste like that all in d name of religion pilgrimage
Re: FG Subsidises Hajj Fares With ₦90 Billion by Christian36: 2:03pm On Mar 30
They are spending #90billion on something that won't bring any development, our lecturers are always going to strike, this money would have gone a long way to correct any future strike let say for 5yrs. The most painful part is that half of the money will end up in Saudi Arabia, no wonder that country is rich, imagine spending such money every year with the number of Africa countries doing the same thing. This is what I called religion slavery.

Well, at the end, government subsidising education does not mean that the government is doing a good job running education. Two different things and all that.

What is the government’s business with funding the obligations arising fro people’s personal religious beliefs? If not that some individuals are benefiting from it, contrary to religious beliefs.

If you see nothing wrong in Peter Obi attempting to bribe Northerners with borehole and food, why are you crying over Federal Government’s decision to subsidize hajj payment for Muslims? What’s wrong with two can play the game?
If you are not a bastard what benefit has subsidizing hajj payment to the economy and welfare of the people ? You remove subsidy on vital goods then went on to subsidize religious activity? So what benefits are those not going to hajj get? How dear you try to deffend this? Are some yorubas muslims f**ls that they try to defend what ordinarily they should be ashamed to talk about?. Are you mad?

so Nigeria dey subsidize religion and not education.

that 90 billion fit commot all almajiri from the streets of Nigeria and give them quality education and health care.

Besides mainly the rich goes on pilgrimage.

so sad

If I get it right from the Quran and Hadiths, going on pilgrimage is if it is within your power financially to do so. That means it is conditional upon your financial capacity.

How morally right is it to use public funds to sponsor religious pilgrimage in a multi-religious society? N 90 Billion to subsidize just one instance of Hajj that has no future or economic benefits for the country and N 50 Billion for Student Loans with economic and social benefits in the future? We really are not getting our priorities right.

You would not be surprised to find out that some of these pilgrims are going on Hajj for the 2nd, 3rd or 4th times in their lives and there are hundreds of thousands of Muslim youths wallowing in poverty who are unable to get just 50K capital to be gainfully employed. So which is more important and impactful?

THIS IS ENTIRELY A PRODIGAL GOVERNMENT!MUST THE COMMON WEALTH BE WASTED ON FEW NIGERIANS?I BELIEVE HAJJ IS JUST A PERSONAL THING THAT MUST BE FINANCED BY THE INDIVIDUALS AND NOT THE GOVERNMENT!
ONLY ISSUES THAT CONCERN ALL COULD BE SPONSORED BY THE GOVERNMENT!!

From the days of old, Jerusalem and Mecca steady robbing Nigeria of sense.
The country won't subsidize small and medium businesses. This particular problem isn't about Tinubu
if Tinubu can remove fuel subsidy implemented by past leaders, what stops him from doing the same on this pilgrimage stuff.

This govt is good at introducing policies that will make life unbearable for Nigerians, but never quick at introducing policies to curb excesses and avenues of wastage.

We are a secular state, why waste money we don't have on personal engagements like this? This is a country battling with youth unemployment, brain drain, comatose electricity.

Tomorrow same govt will go cap in hand to China and get world bank to beg for loans.

Almajiris are not needed off the streets. Their stay on the streets is part of the religion. Zakat is for them.
