As shared on a the website of a Chinese media company.
Electrified line is first section of ambitious plan to meet daily needs of one of world's fastest-growing megacities

Since the first phase of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit Blue Line entered into commercial operation in Nigeria's largest city last September, the electric railway has been providing passengers with a safe and speedy ride.

Built by the China Civil Engineering Construction Corp and funded by the Lagos state government, the 13 kilometers of track completed so far extends from Mile 2 to Marina, and covers five stations. The first phase of the Blue Line is expected to carry more than 250,000 passengers a day once it is in full operation.

As a symbolic project of the Belt and Road Initiative, the line is the first electrified railroad and cross-water light rail project in West Africa.

Its route will eventually extend 27 km from Okokomaiko, a densely populated area in the western part of Lagos, to Marina, a business district on Lagos Island. Consisting of two phases of construction, the second phase will run from Okokomaiko to Mile 2.

During the completion ceremony for the first phase last year, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, governor of Lagos state, described the moment as "historic", saying that Lagos had become the first subnational government in West Africa to fund and deliver a rail system on its balance sheet.

The Blue Line is part of an ambitious transport master plan to meet the demands of Nigeria's commercial and economic hub, which is one of the world's fastest-growing megacities.

More than 2,000 Chinese and Nigerian employees worked together to optimize construction in the face of multiple challenges, including complicated geology and the COVID-19 pandemic, according to Chu Maoming, China's consul general in Lagos.

Speaking at the ceremony, Zhang Zhichen, chairman of the China Civil Engineering Construction Corp Nigeria Ltd, said the firm will maintain its spirit of diligence, integrity, and tenacity and will build the follow-up projects with efficiency and to similarly high level of quality.

This will further increase pain and disaffection in some hatefilled quarters. But as the saying goes, the lion does not concern itself with the feeling of antelopes. Lagos will continue to rise even against their despicable wishes.

Some people will be angry when they see these types of development and infrastructure. They are still celebrating gutters and Julius Berger signs.

No Nigerian city is in competition with the city of Lagos.

Lagos city should be competing with major cities around the world if liberated from the stranglehold of the one and only notorious narcotics drug traffickers who have held the state captive for more than two decades, milking the entire common wealth of Lagosians.

It a good thing to see Lagos develop and become a true mega city... Lagos is a Mini Nigeria.
Lagos and Abuja are the 2 major cities that has always had the advantage of Nigeria's collective contributions . These cities reflects the entirety of Nigeria.

Laudable but unnecessary

Rail transport is NOT a Government enterprise in climes that requires optimal operations.

Train transportation business is a private establishment with Government giving the enabling environment.

AIR PEACE, a Private Airline company is now the foremost airline in NIGERIA. Operating optimally with a robust array of both human and assets that make the airline function optimally and get international acceptance. Air PEACE is flying to UK, when NIGERIA Air, is a phantom project.

Enjoy your trains , but know that transport business is not Government business. Individuals can operate it in a more efficient way.

Enjoy Sha... Una need the upliftment grin

When people call you names now.. same you will change moniker and report to Mods that will just ban monikers without due diligence.

Anyway, if your marbles are intact, boasting about trains shows how shallow you are.

AIR PEACE is owned by an individual and is more expensive than Locomotive trains being paraded as development by your worthless government.

Now, who is actually the PIG without brains, oinking foolishly?

Cry Blood grin

Is it a BIG deal if the trains are pushed? Don't machines breakdown? A ship in USA just rammed into a bridge and cut it into two. That shows machines are machines and are meant to breakdown.

Stop celebrating Nonsense with your shallow reasoning.

Its obvious the trains will be like the BRT disaster, in LAGOS. The fact that it is Government run will give rise to ineptitude and cutting corners. That will eventually reduced optimum capacity and make the project as worthless as the National Stadium that you can't maintain even after BUHARI gave it to you. grin

AIr PEACE is privately owned. His planes are busting the international air space. Did IGBOs rub it in your Agbado face? grin

Grow up and keep foolishness at bay. Train transportation business is NOT space travel, losers. grin

Bad Blood? How?

Pointing out the obvious is now bad Blood?

Trains are privately run businesses ogbeni. I am pointing out that it's more Propaganda than actual efficiency. Time will tell

Give the business to a private consortium to manage and see the train expand to even ILORIN, but as shallow thinkers, you guys NEVER think outside the box grin

Chinedu and his gang of misfits called obidients made it a big deal even though it was practically impossible for 3 people to push that train.

BRT is doing just fine.

Number 2, this is not about dick swinging between Ibo and Yoruba but your hatred, envy, inferiority complex, and bitterness always get the better of you.

Bellview owned by a Yoruba man operated the london-heathrow, not even Gatwick that passengers to London hate to fly to except those on very tight budget, for several years. I guess you were probably under 10 years old then.
