I have decided to use ten percent of my monthly salary to give to the poor in my community and my pastor is not happy about it. I was not called out as usual for the blessings the church usually bestowed to tithers this month because my card was missing in the box.

Is the purpose of giving this tithe defeated?

My tithe goes to feeding the poor ...
(There are outreaches dedicated to this)

And besides, if a very hungry elderly man pray for you after you've given him food, you'd understand that the depth of sincerity of the prayers of some so called Men of God is nowhere near that of the elderly who prolly needs it more ...

I dunno about you, but if my pastor is upset that my tithe was used to cater for the poor (orphans and elderly folks who prolly can't help themselves), then I think I'll prolly find a new pastor ...

Your tithe is for the church and it's priest/Levites/Pastors

God commands "bring all the tithe into my storehouse".

Don't be deceived by people telling you pastor is eating all the money.
If you think your pastor is eating all the tithe. Then it's either your Pastor is covetous and you need to change your church or you are just being paranoid and easily swayed by mischievous digital contents and/or negative news.

Tithe is not offering or alms.
Tithe is a monument belonging to God's house or temple.

"The poor you have always with you".
Your "tithe" is not accepted if you gave it to the poor.
That's doing something right with the wrong approach.

First of...
That my tithe goes to feeding the poor doesn't mean it isn't paid to the church ...
((I honestly don't know where you got that from tbh))

Secondly...
Nowhere did I opine that pastors were eating my tithe ...
((Again, I don't know where you got that from - that I was "deceived" ))

I think you should Google the meaning of an "outreach" as used in this context, maybe you'll see the flop in your response to my write up ...
