Two Killed, Many Houses Burnt As Violence Breaks Out In Benue by Kuginzi: 10:28pm On Apr 01
At least two people were killed in a fresh communal crisis which broke out at North Bank, a suburb of Makurdi metropolis in Benúe State.

Many houses were burnt and residents sustained injuries when fight broke out between Tiv and Jukun natives on Sunday and continued on Monday.

Commander of a local vigilante known as Operation Shara (Sweep) in North Bank, Nura Umar, told our correspondent that two persons who were involved in menial job were killed in the heat of the crisis.

Umar said, “It’s really bad. Many houses were burnt in Agatashi community at the river bank of old bridge around timber shade and abattoir side. It’s a fight between Jukun and Tiv.

"Two persons selling things on wheelbarrow were victims of the crisis. They were caught and killed. We buried them today. Yesterday, Sunday, they shot two people while in church. They didn’t die; they are in the hospital.”

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Benúe, SP Catherine Anene, did not yet respond to calls put through her telephone as at the time of filing this report.

Internal matter still not about external factors.

Any violence that occurs in Benue since after Ortom left is an internal factors, a fight between locals.

Jukun and Tiv fight is a case the Tiv traditional council has to sit down and find a lasting solution to. The jukun man still feels he's more dominant than even an Idoma man in Benue State. Like those guys are stup!d and their stup!dity classified in a higher degree. These guys are just fishermen from Taraba allowed to stay in Benue and they feel they own Benue. Like what the heck!

I never seen where the minority have a rule over the majority. Have you seen an I.gbo man rule over Hausa/Fulani man? Over to say an Hausa man is a governor in Abia State or Anambra.

The Tiv and jukun crisis has to stop. Abinsi is always burning down. Now the North Bank area.

I still don't understand how some of these benue indigenes think, they would gladly kill themselves over communal crisis or ontop or make one village kill the other ontop kpekus matter but wouldn't have the courage to face fulani herdsmen 😪

Benue state used to be a peaceful state, and even before Buhari's tenure, chaos had erupted there.
I saw an idiotic demented comment claiming Buhari administration brought chaos to Benue state.
During GEJ administration,there has been ongoing crisis within the state, often between Tiv and Fulani herdsmen.
At one time in 2014,Agatu community in Benue state had a communal clash with Fulani herdsmen who later invaded the community, and wrecked havoc, with the attendant loss of lives.

The Tivs and Jukuns have been fighting for a very long time. Both tribes fit each other well in terms of communal clashing.
