oliverwrites: Lol if 36 states was former capital territory with access to sea ports etc you would have seen that Lagos is underdeveloped. If you think that Lagos is not a special state why don't the expertise of Lagos spread to Ogun, Ekiti, Ondo, Osun? Even a toddler can rule Lagos going by it's IGR so stop making nonsense comparisons. Mentioned which 36 state was former capital territory and mentioned which of the States has a seaport? 1 Like |

helinues:So true. People keep shouting 'Tinubu this, Buhari that' forgetting that their state governors have SO MUCH responsibilities which they are not performing on. Abia is showing the way with regards to power. EVERY state in Nigeria should have a domestic power programme, including the requisite legal backing for an internal power market, generation and transmission. People need to DEMAND more from their states and LGs. The days of waiting for Abuja to solve everything are over |

helinues:The Fed govt is still holding onto The Transmission Network... If the fed govt meant any atom of what they passed and signed into law, they would have given step by step plans on when and how the national grid will be unbundled n dismantle so states can start transmitting power from their various gencos... |

Earthquakes:Was Cross River not also a former capital? Does Abuja generate as much as Lagos? And it is convenient as you have ruled out Oyo State which is the state that is the most beneficial of the ripple on effects of Lagos State. I don't do this party or tribal nonsense with you guys, I speak based on reality. Most south Eastern and South Southern states get more allocation than Lagos can you without sentiments confidently say that development in those states is proportional to the allocations they get? Remove your hate taint glass and you will see clearly. Good day. |

They should remove all residential areas and distribute them for Band B to E.Then have all the commercial hubs and industrial areas on Band A.But if Distribution company fails to give them upto 20hrs a day then they can sue govt. |

helinues: My thoughts, exactly. So use!ess sets of people. May be they will finish building the plants in 2082 when our generation would have gone. States that can’t pay N30,000 minimum wage will now commit billions into power plant. Those governors would rather launch it fanfare, stea! billions allocated to it and allow it to die in the hands of other governors who are coming. Honestly speaking by, only Otti is the most SINCERE governor in Nigeria today. Ido not say he won’t stea! o. Or that he is not steal!ing o. May be Soludo and Sanwolu will tie in second position. May be. It’s not that Otti is doing the best thing o but among the worwor work our governors do under their 8 years, only Otti seems to be trying. Please don’t come for me o. SanwoOlu has not hit the core area of Lagos states where his impact is really needed. He is only doing signature projects. There are projects that are ‘non-signature’ and would really turn things around for Lagos State. @Gawat is here. He knows Lagos is not operating at its capacity. Transportation and environmental degradation in Lagos are very horrible. Sanitation is … Common mosquito control, Lagos State has never done it. Go and see dirty and blocked drainages, stagnated, smelly water everywhere. No street-sweeping machines across all local governments - the whole of Lagos State. Some of those sweepers can be trained to operate them, when bought. No firm environmental law enforcements. Lagos State shouldn’t think that by doing Red and Blue Lines, it has achieved something big. It hasn’t. There are lots and lots to touch that would bring Lagos State to an enviable status. |

LordGuru1:That's a brilliant post. Just 2 days ago, I made reference to the use of off-grid and scalable micro and mini-hydro turbines in my convo with 2 posters here on NL. People are not thinking outside the box with regards to generating their own personal off-grid power solutions and keep complaining about high tariffs back in Nigeria. Even scalable off-grid wind turbines have gained momentum in use globally for individual use in homes and communities. Last but not least, I agree with you on your summations with reference to the many rivers in the West of Nigeria. Since 1982, the Federal Governmemt hasn't completed the construction of the hydroelectric dam project in Oyo State (Ikere Gorge Dam in Iseyin LGA) which would also have served as a source of dry season irrigation for agriculture in Oyo State and surrounding states. That dam project has been abandoned with the installed imported equipment from Germany since the 1980s and the current FG-led by President Tinubu has to finish it ASAP and other abandoned projects around Nigeria. =>https://businessday.ng/exclusives/article/reviving-the-abandoned-smaller-hydro-electric-projects-in-nigeria/ 1 Like 2 Shares |

Re: 12 States Plan Power Projects, Anger Spreads Over Tariff Hike by Kukutente23: 11:52am On Apr 05 |
nairalanda1:Decentralization will solve the problem You don't know anything about Nigeria's power issue. You're just here to cry about subsidy and tarriff as usual There are countries with lower tarriffs than Nigeria and they have better power supply. Ghana is a very easy example to recall. Nigeria's problem is the centralised grid we operate. A country as large as Nigeria has no business running a central grid. It is a legacy of our colonialists who are a smaller country and can therefore afford a central grid Nigeria needs to regionalise its grid system and work towards a mesh topology or ring at least instead of the present star topology. This is a technical issue and not about money as you wrongly claim. 1 Like |
