@OP, develop more sense.
Consider the number of new state capitals in the North of Nigeria since northern military dictators proliferated 20 new federal units - states - and hundreds of new local government areas in the old Northern region of Nigeria, you will then understand that northern Nigeria is unarguably developing many times more than the south.
Northern Nigeria arrested development in the south through proliferation of excess number of states and local govt areas in the old Northern region.
OP is like many Southern Nigerians who don't understand the fraud in Nigeria's state creation. Land mass or population figures is NEVER used as yardstick to determine where new federating units can be created in a country formed and shared by different regions.
There should have been equal number of states between the three regions that formed Nigeria in 1960.

At the FEC and in the NAAS where some of the projects are raised and voted for, Aboki has the highest number of votes, no thanks to Aboki military dictators who used land mass or population figures to create too many non viable states in the old
Northern region.

pls how will the coastal road project linking Calabar to Lagos "unlock the much needed economic revolution which would further enrich other regions of Nigeria"?

is it because of the absence of this road that the economic revolution that would further enrich other regions of Nigeria has not been unlocked?

This is the question that I have been asking because I really don't see the economic relevance of this project. First of all Lagos to Calabar you want to put rail line to transport goods fro Lagos ports to Calabar. What happened to Warri. PH and Calabar Ports? That money could have been used to revamp and expand those ports rather than the trillions spent on the coastal road. There is very little return on investment for this project.

Some southerners are already condemning Lagos to Calabar (10 Lane with rail in the middle ) but I trust Tinubu,he no send anybody papa ,a lot of infrastructure spring up under him

The project makes no economic sense. I feel it is covert way to let FG to the coastal road instead of Lagos State government. In hindsight you want to do a road to link Lagos to Calabar and put trains to move goods to calabar, when there are ports in Calabar, PH and Warri in need of revamping and expansion to be like Apapa Ports. That trillions can be put to use expanding those ports and turning Nigeria to a huge maritime hub servicing Niger,Chad and Central African Republic. Right now the maritime hubs of West Africa are Ghana and Cote D'ivoire and these guys have already gone automated with their ports. Right now it is 5 times expensive to move your products from the wharf than shipping it in to the country. That alone is not good for business. Why can't they open and expa d other ports this is question that people have been asking. The road economically is not the best it is a waste, the ROI will not be good for the country.

[With open minded you will agree that there is need for the coastal road the same way the government is putting finishing touches to Lagos Abuja Super Highway

1 Revamping of Ports in other parts of the Country: The ports are presently being advanced for PPP concession arrangement and such the best will be to move to another line of development.

2. Wharf and Tincan : With the connection of Apapa port to the railway line connecting to Ibadan, the dry port in ibadan has been activated and already in use. There cargo coaches moving containers to Ibadan daily and freeing up spaces for more clearance. This is part of the reasons the IGR has increased of geometrically.

Do we need the coastal road? In my opinion, YES because it will create many opportunities in that corridors. The coastal communities have been long abandoned thus starving them of the needed development.

The coastal road will help farmers in Ondo, Ekiti, Edo, Ogun, Osun and part of Oyo States to move their farm produce to Lagos deep sea port in Lagos . Because of lack of storage facilities for aquatic products, the coastal road will avail them nearness to the cities and access to more customers.

Is the cost too much? NO because it will the ND the needed motivation and sense of belonging in the project Nigeria. Dont forgot there is no railway lines linking the ND or SE to other states or regions. The East West road has become a scourge and lost the ephoria that greeted the commencement.

That road when completed will generate more revenue to the FG and state governments in that axis.

Opebiman:

Northern Nigeria, a prominent area in the country, encompasses three geopolitical zones and is home to the capital city, Abuja, as well as the bustling economic hubs of Kaduna and Kano. Despite being the largest landmass in Nigeria, it typically lags behind other regions in terms of development. However, several ambitious projects are underway in northern Nigeria that are expected to catalyze significant transformation in the region.

Number 6, Abuja - kaduna - Kano highway.
This 375-kilometer highway links the Federal capital territory, Abuja, to the commercial hub, Kano, serving as a vital segment of the A2 road network. Its construction cost, totaling 779 billion naira, makes it the priciest project in Northern Nigeria and the second most expensive road endeavor in Nigeria's history.
Under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration, a new funding model has been committed to ensuring the timely completion of the final phase by 2026.

Number 5, Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano pipeline.
The Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) gas pipeline, spanning 614km, aims to link gas supplies from the Niger Delta through Ajaokuta, extending to the FCT, Kaduna, and ultimately Kano. This ambitious project carries a price tag of $2.8 billion, with approximately $2.5 billion financed by Chinese banks.
This project will massively boost industrialization in kano, kaduna and Abuja. Bringing them closer to the level of the southern counterparts.

Number 4, Gwagwalada power plant.
Situated in Gwagwalada, in Nigeria's Federal Capital Territory, the Gwagwalada Power Plant stands as a significant energy infrastructure project, showcasing Nigeria's commitment to energy diversification and sustainability. Using primarily natural gas, the plant not only reduces emissions but also ensures consistent power supply.
Spearheaded by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, this project integrates with the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano gas pipeline. With a $2 billion investment, this pipeline seeks to transport gas from southern to northern Nigeria, further strengthening the nation's energy infrastructure.

Number 3, Kaduna - kano rail line.
A new rail line linking Kaduna to Kano is under construction in Northern Nigeria. This segment is part of the larger Lagos-Kano rail project, connecting the Lagos port to Kano. Spanning approximately 203km, the rail is being constructed by China's Civil Engineering Construction Company (CCECC). It features a double-track system to accommodate higher train traffic and facilitate easier management. The project's estimated cost is $1.2 billion.

Number 2, Kano maradi railine.
This ambitious rail project in Nigeria carries a staggering construction cost of $2 billion, covering 285 kilometers to link Kano, Jigawa, Katsina, and Maradi in Niger Republic.
overseen by Mota Engil, this is the most expensive rail project ever built and set for completion in 2025.
These rail lines are expected to revolutionize travel between major northern Nigerian cities and form a crucial part of the broader Lagos to Kano rail initiative, enhancing connectivity from Lagos port to Kano and extending to Maradi.

Number 1, Abuja metro line rehabilitation.
The Abuja Light Rail is West Africa's first metro line, consisting of two phases. Phase one, launched in 2018, covers 45.24 kilometers, connecting Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport to the city's central business district. Phase two is set to further expand Abuja's coverage.

Despite challenges, including a suspension of passenger services in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, The FCT minister is dedicated to rejuvenating the rail system and completing subsequent phases.
The planned network spans 290 kilometers across six phases or lots, with construction completed on Lots 1 and 3.

The project doesn't make business sense. There can be a link via rail line between SE/SS to SW as part of wider rail network, because the rail network has not been expanded upon what the colonial government did.

I love the way northerners play their own politics. it's played with oneness of the community first before anything

I doubt, if it were so, they wouldn't be the most backward people in the country. Their politicians do lobby for more projects in their region but at what expense do they have power to do so? At the expense of keeping their people uneducated and unexposed. And their major aim is not to develop their region but selfish interest

A lot of Hausa Fulanis that work with my brother that he borrowed money for business usually pay with these stuffs. How can you be buying millions wrist watch and be borrowing money for business?
