Some Ongoing Island Projects In Lagos. by theenchanter: 6:11pm On May 15, 2018
I guess majority of us know about Eko Atlantic City but many of us don't know there are several other reclaimed land projects currently ongoing in Lagos.

ORANGE ISLAND.
The Orange Island project involves the dredging of sand from the bed of the Lagos Lagoon, reclamation of a 150 hectare (1,500,000 sqM) island, construction of an access land bridge and infrastructure to service the island. The Project will eventually be a fully serviced, community located 450 meters off the headland of Lekki Phase 1.
The layout of the Island will comprise four main schemes made up of residential, commercial, services and recreation/sports zones. The services provided will include electricity, water and sewerage system. The Island will be accessed via a dual carriage way located at the end of Admiralty Way in Lekki Phase 1.

GRACEFIELD ISLAND.
The Gracefield Island – ‘The Phoenix’ is a joint venture project between Gravitas Investments Limited and Lagos State Government. It involves reclamation and development of a new metropolis, offering a prime site for a world class live-work and play environment.

The development is conceived and planned to be unique in its landscaping, infrastructure design, architectural presentation and the ambience of tranquillity and happiness it will engender in residents and visitors.

PERIWINKLE ISLAND.
The Periwinkle is a stretch of swampy waterfront land beautifully set at the Babalola shorelines of Elegushi Kingdom. It is sandwiched between Orange Island and Lekki Phase I, the large parcel of land offers a generous lagoon view, whistling wind, range of visiting birds and natural surroundings.

The Project was named Periwinkle because the Lagoon sand burrow is full of periwinkle shells.
Periwinkle Island is a creation on by dredging and reclamation on in the Lagoon, extended from the shore line at Babalola, to become a super modern up-market residential, mixed-use and commercial land use estate.

Current status: sand-filling 90% completed.
Land types available: 500sqm, 750sqm, 1000sqm, 2000sqm.

IMPERIAL INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS DISTRICT.
Dubbed as the first eco-friendly smart business city in Africa, the project is promoted through a joint-venture between the Elegushi Royal Family and a private developer, Channeldrill Resources Limited. All the plots in the proposed city will be part of the land reclamation in the 200-hectare project, which Oba Saheed Elegushi said will expand the Ikate kingdom and also extend Lekki Phase 1
Proposed amenities include; roads with walk and bicycle way, waterways and lakes, underground drainage, sewage treatment, water and water treatment plant, 1-independent gas fired electricity and cooking gas piped to every house, fibre optics cable, cloud enabled Communication network and smart city/house infrastructure for willing subscribers, an mini golf course and shopping mall.

Status..... land reclamation.

With the completion of these projects plus Eko Atlantic city, other states in Nigeria should forget about catching up with Lagos. The pace of development in the state is mind blowing.

Ogun state ought to be the sister of Lagos but the governor is only focusing in the state capital leaving the most important areas generating huge IGR in shambles.

Lalasticlala, your attention is needed.

You see why flooding in Lagos will continue whenever there is heavy rainfall? All the natural harbours, creeks and water channels, through which the lagoon and rivers drain out into the sea and other places, are being blocked by these silly land reclamation schemes which cater only to the rich.

What Lagos Island, Lekki, Victoria Island etc needs right now are a network of well constructed storm drains and aqueducts, to get floodwater quickly out of such areas into the lagoons and adjoining streams. sad But no, they won't do that. They are just busy spending more money to reclaim land for the idle rich.

Make una fear God nah! angry

Where...exactly?? shocked After reclaiming land in silly proportions from the lagoon? How come nobody has seen these storm drainages and aqueducts, yet? We are not talking about those shallow gutters that line our streets, and are hardly ever cleared when they get blocked, o! Am talking about a serious complex underground network of tunnels, aqueducts and storm channels used to drain off and canalize flood water away from streets, and districts into the rivers and the lagoon.

shocked Anyway, water will always find its level....

Where are the storm drains or drainage channels in Ilubirin? This is just an artist impression, that you posted here. Work on the estate has not reached anywhere near this level. undecided

He is right about Ilubirin. The project has been on hold for almost 3years.

Also, I quite agree with him about the storm drainage not constructed to curtail flooding in the state. We are not at the peak of rainfall yet some areas are already experiencing flood. Though the citizens need to stop dumping refuse in the drainage.

Heard about this laudable project. Could you share briefly the cost to own a small apartment? Where precisely is this place located?

The Oceanna was conceived to create a sense of hope and pride for Nigerians all over the World. It reflects an inspiring story about a magnificent Nation claiming its place in history.

excluding ilubirin that doesn't have underground drainage system cos it'll directly discharge flood to d sea, every other projects here have underground drainage system.

I still don't know Why the refinery wasn't sited in Ondo as earlier proposed , At least Ondo has the natural resources to run the refinery, Everything must not be in Lag.

Ogun is another state to look out for.

Dangote's original intention was to site it in Ondo, but Ondo state government and the host community were giving Dangote problems so Fashola wooed him to Lagos and the rest they say is history. Mimiko messed up big time by his lack of leadership over the issue.
