Even the power we generate is not properly distributed. Failed distribution installations everywhere. Every sector in the power industry is messed up.
Not just the power sector, every sector in Nigeria is messed up.

Power supply is atrocious because for decades we have been on subsidized power. The result is that the sector was not able to make enough money to keep running well.

Even now tinubu is still paying subsides for bands b to band d.

When the subsidy removal happens properly ( apc wants power and if keeping subsidy means they win they will bring it back), prices will shoot up so that money would be made to fix things up then when investment flows in as a result, prices might come down.

As seen in the GSM sector.

We've been lying to ourselves for decades. Now, thanks to years of subsidy and years of looting , we have to face the truth. Even apc
always gsm sector as example, the same thing was said about petrol, we are still waiting for the price to drop

Heheheh!
This one they have been trying for us lately mostly at night.

Hope they are not trying to rope us into band A.
They can be funny.

Hmm. You have brought your daft mind to the table. Between you and Nigerians, who do you think is stupid?

The increased rate is expected to be applied for consumers who access power for 20-24hrs per day. But the situation now is that those customers will not get that up to 20hrs of power supply in a day yet they will be charged at the increased rate.

You see that you are sick in the mind, unintelligent and perhaps lack comprehensice skills.

YOU ARE MOST STUPID AND VERY DAFT

Band A Customers Decry Extortion By Power Firms Amid Poor Supply

As I type this, I am grouped in Band A and I have not seen power supply since around 3pm this afternoon . . .Not to mention that power was also not available between the hours of 12:15am till about 8am this morning . . .So where is the "No less than 20hrs supply per day" ?

I said this on a similar thread.

Nigeria generates less than 5,000 mega watts and you're expecting NEPA to sustain 20 hours of electricity supply for Band A customers? That's impossible.

They would never be able to meet up with that target, and the customers are the ones who would be on the receiving end cos they'll be paying through their noses for darkness. No thanks to the incompetence of the Discos.

But darkness is free...

The concept of luxurious darkness is bewildering to me, 😆🤣

The matter is, enof money is going round the power sector but the corruption inside the power sector(energy) will not allow anything good to come out of it. Guys dey embezzle money on a steady for there.

Pay for it with the low purchasing power of our money abi? With 30k minimum wage, shebi? U are not making sense.
Stop the propaganda.
nairalanda1:

Whatever you think of me, if you want 24 hour power you have to pay for it.

That's what pdp was trying to tell you fellows when they privatized power.

Anyway, nothing apc can do. The mess they created since 2015 means they have run out of money for subsidies. Pity they still remain corrupt.

Good evening, and a pox on apc and pdp and lp.

Seriously we don't have money. The looting makes the bad matter worse.

Also, it would cost us 60 to 80 percent of our current budget over the next 5 years to give everyone power supply.

Personally, I wish there was another way. But here we are.

The thing is, run a resource dependent economies, poverty would be your friend.

The thing is, run a resource dependent economies, poverty would be your friend.

There's nothing wrong with a resource dependent economy. Saudi Arabia and other Middle Eastern kingdoms are very rich with good HDI and are dependent on crude oil and natural gas.

The main factors that determine national prosperity are -

1. Free Markets
2. Demographic homogeneity.
3. Democracy.
4. Property Rights.

I think small size is also part of it but that can go with demographics.

That's it. There's no absolutes in the mix.

The more of these four factors that are present in a nation, the more likely it is to be rich and prosperous and have a high HDI. I'm sure I've told you this many times but you just can't get it. You claim to be a market oriented person but you don't seem to know or care about the basics.

All that Dutch Disease theory is secondary.

Nigeria is poor because out of those four factors, it only has a little bit of democracy. That little good democracy is overwhelmed by other bad things, like extreme diversity AND a Constitution that is ideologically socialist. In fact the Constitution guarantees that Nigeria will remain poor and underdeveloped. Look up the ECONOMIC definition of underdeveloped to understand.

That's it, it's not about resource dependence.

Good Luck to Nigeria.

Government is still paying subsidy on fuels.

NNPC is still the sole importer of petrol.

The price of crude oil has been going up over the past 6 months. So petrol prices SHOULD be higher.

Sorry, that's the truth.

Good Luck to Nigeria.
