My Farm Experience And Cost by Janded42: 1:22pm On Apr 12
Hello guys.

I have been following the cassava thread in this section for some months now.

Now I decided to invest and farm cassava, but was discouraged by the cost estimate I got from the platform.

I'm actually working on three hectares for the start and see how it goes.

Now I can give a breakdown of my expenses.

Cost of renting 1hectr: #5000( five thousand naira)
Cost of clearing: I spent #15000( 15 thousand naira
The cost of help is #10 naira for one. How it works here is 400 heeps, after calculation, you will get #4000 but if you plead with the workers you might get lucky for #3000.

This is a practical breakdown.

I will share pictures of what I did today at the farmland.

I will keep you guys updated, have a nice day

Your breakdown of cost components looks dirt cheap. Had to crosscheck the original post date to be sure this isn't a 2018 topic.

I was also surprised when the villagers told me the cost of a hectare, and the cost of farming too. Now this is my reality

How are you my brother? Can I teach you farming, deforestation, agroforestry, netzero, international farm grant and export?

You see, based on your picture, whatever you harvested there won't ever be bought in the EU, UK, USA, Japan or Australia (that is export). Note the countries and continents.

The practice of killing trees for farming is called, "deforestation". Which is obvious in your picture. Now, agroforestry has always been a sustainable way of farming (that is another topic).

It is a very lengthy one but I will plead with you to always allow the tree to mature even if you want to harvest them than kill them and release back all the sequestered carbon. You can't request for a farm grant with the practice of killing trees for farming activity.

You have a very good idea but I am just pointing out something's for you so that you can grow better and learn.

Wish I could talk for long.

May your farm bring forth hundreds upon hundreds produce for you and may you witness this in good health and happiness. Please let's learn to always protect trees. Thank you

Are you sure you are a farmer? Tell us your farm location and the village name, even in the far north where labourers is cheap, they cannot clear an hectare for 15k.
I'm a farmer here in Ondo, no labourer will clear 2 plots for 15k here

If I was to farm yam. I would have left the tree.

But I hope you also know cassava don't like anything like a shade to cover it..

Provided It grows well. I can do whatever I want to do with it.

Thanks for kind words. I'm grateful.

Why ñot you take your time, walk to the community close to you, or drive over there.

Meet the villagers and interact with them, you might be lucky to get one free.

Those in the village are not on naira land. The most you see online are middlemen.

Go out to the street and confirm for yourself

No, I only gave a breakdown cost of farming.
I'm still farming. From yesterday ad today and have done 1200heep.

It's secured here.
When you are at otukpo tell a bike guy to take you to okete.

You won't see herders here. You only see them in the up town, close to nassarawa. The boundary town
