I don't blame the policeman for shooting at "your friends". In a foreign country, this would've been the outcome too.

Why would u even do that. I tried this last year April,I was high,tired,smoking my SK and with my AC and tints on. We got to an illegal check point,and the useless police were inside a korope about 2 cars in front of me.suddenly they came down and started pointing guns at me,ordered me to roll down my glass,I did not answer,tried to force my door open,it was locked. Trust me ,with my 3.5liter engine.i match am face one of the police say today I go break your leg and kill u. But while doing that,I got trapped in traffic.i had to beat one way and I got my mirrors smashed.well It didn't stop there. They chased me with okada.hahahaha.my 3.5liter engine I just press sport mode and drove against one way traffic on express.omo dat day be like jugmdgement day for me,luckily enough,I was not caught by road safety,or had any accident.i still drove against one way police station road and opened my drivers door while driving .I feared no one that day. But since then,omo I no drive for almost 5months till the matter died Down . Since then,If I see them,I no fear again,all my docs intact,na small Nokia phone dey my hand. Las las dem go beg me for tips.. everyone get craise. Mine was activated that day...I come dey feel like Jason statham

When you meet police at the check point,slow down and talk to them.don't attempt to run away else they will think you are a suspect trying to escape.their egunje is very important,they must collect from every car,you no fit escape with tbier money.

My opinion on this issue is that @Prechgold1180 and his friend brought this upon themselves. From your narrative it shows that you did not want to obey checkpoint rules and the police might think that you are hidden something from them.

What they did wasn't a threat to the life of the officers in duty but because of corruption and money they already budgeted to rip off from the occupants they are prepared to go rogue. Lawlessness in Nigeria is indeed supported by the people.

Am familiar with route. I drove through Benin bypass anytime am travelling to Lagos to & fro Ph.

Please next time, always honour their order. Its for a reason...to fish out criminals and you know that Egba is a hotbed, when it comes to criminals activities, auchi-Benin highway is a beehive of robbers and kidnappers. I know Egba very well, up to Umagbaę.

Please always stop next time. They hold a gun and can do whatever they like with it. You hardly can win the police in any court. Patapata, they'd say they acted on self defence. Where would you defend that as a civilian?

You nor try at all. Una for wait. If you try report it, you risk being put behind bars. Just treat your friend and thank God you no lose am. You guys made a wrong move.

If the police were on the lookout of a terrorists on the road to cause mayhem and the description fits the action of your friends they will be forced to shoot.

Clearly, the policemen warned them of the danger of disobedience. They put their live at risk.

Sorry, your friends acted suspiciously. If they were in so much of a hurry, they should have left home earlier. Now that one of them is in the hospital, what has happened with all the hurry? Now the hurry is to ensure that the one who received the bullet, gets back on his feet, alive and well.

Our policemen may be reckless and irresponsible sometimes, but citizens too must be very careful and do not act arrogantly to police personnel on our roads.

But why would 'your friend' be in such a hurry that he can't wait till they signal him to go before moving past the checkpoint? It's checkpoint for God's sake, they can stop any car to ask some questions and possibly check the car.

Now ask yourself, is the hurry hurry really worth it?

I wish him speedy recovery sha but even if na for America he tried that chances of him getting short at is likely high
