For me ,they will see me in their office in the next five years but probably before that five years things might be worst than now 😱

In Nigeria's position, a European nation would exploit something like this to deprive certain individuals citizenship. They would target those that badmouth thire Nation on social media, labeling them enemies of the state in secrete dossiers, while publicly placing obstacles in thire path to applying for passport.

They would supply those places where people go to apply for passport a list and photos of individuals that are to be denied passport at all costs after first frustrating them financially and bureaucratically.

BTW

I'm refering to "Nigerians" abroad.

Can that argument be applied to the case of Nigeria where we should really be in a security State of emergency, because of serious terrorist threats everywhere, with so many non-Nigerians allowed to infiltrate our country to become enemies-within?

Nothing like too much ID for our unique and very dangerous situation that needs serious overhaul. Many non-Nigerians who mean Nigerians harm are in Nigeria and holding Nigerian passports.

We can now only contain those but very serious scrutiny of new passport to be issued is in order and the way to go.

It will stop more evil beings gaining Nigerian citizenship but I am personally more worried about those already here and criminally active or lying low as 'sleeper cells'.

Are you also aware that anyone can get certificate of origin from any LGA with as low as 10k?

I think these informations should have been part or requirement to obtain NIN

Then the NIN should be used to obtain a Passport or renew a passport

That way it will be less stressful

Is that relevant to discussion here? Bro, this is a security issue. Your security mainly, if you live in Nigeria.

On the right thread it would be relevant to vent as much as possible about foreigners getting treated better in Nigeria if that is your main problem in life.
Unku ignore the closing statement with an exclamation mark and answer the earlier question with a question mark?

.... We are not all kids or dumb on NL, answer the damn question

Some of you are just bitter, troublesome and quarrelsome people who always want to make everything about what is wrong/not working instead of looking at solutions being discussed on their individual merit .

Let me ask you a question using the UK I know well. The japa lot can testify if I am right or wrong.

When Nigerians, like Nnamdi Kanu, naturalize to become British citizen, do they get told to go and bring childhood photos, corrobarating friends and neighbour statements, UK school report etc as would apply to Nigerians born in the UK who want to get a first passport they are entitled to but have not obtained yet?

Find the answer to that and you will see Nigeria and all nations work same. I.e naturalised Nigerian citizens have different rules , as must be the case, guiding the processs of them gaining a Nigerian passport to Nigerians born in Nigeria. It is a fairly simple concept for anyone to wrap their head round.

The rules before both (naturalised Nigerians or Nigerians born in Nigeria) will take into account their unique and different situation for Nigerian passport issuance purpose.

Stop causing drama over non-issues because you are frustrated, bitter, confrontational and always desperate to prove Nigeria is doing something wrong or failing.

Learn to think and act like an adult. Discuss, in this case, the issue of security efficacy designed to prevent our passport ending up in the hands of evil and criminal-minded non-Nigerians who do not qualify to have our passport. Don't distract childishly with talk, irrelevant to the topic, just to satisfy your personal frustration and anger with life.

What of Nigerians based abroad how do they get Local Govt Letters

If your parents are alive then they can stand in for the child applying by providing their own proof of entitlement to Nigerian citizenship. Children, even when adults, qualify automatically for Nigerian passports through parents.

Thosands of Nigerians use this route for their children who are born and bred in the UK and never set foot in Nigeria. "Ways and means" in public administration and political leadership can be used to secure unconventional solutions.

That will always apply here because this is not a development targeted at legitimate Nigerians who, by 'ways and means' processes of elimination, will succeed proving they are Nigerians.

This is a special exercise with a security underpinning for a Country fighting dangerous insecurity tied to foreign incursion of vary dangerous criminals.

It is those people this is targeted at. Even with corruption, many of them will not be able to prove genuine and verifiable connection to Nigeria as legit Nigerians would be able to do in the end.

There's nothing hard to get as long as you get the required money. Even the LGA certificate naim easy pass to get
StOla:

The expired passport itself is being questioned since there is a claim that non-citizens already have Nigerian passports, hence the need to disregard it as a proof.

Unfortunately, those enemies within will be the first to fulfill all obligations required for passport renewals. Go and ask those enemies, they will tell you.

NIS have no work to do. I applied for my expired passport and a major criteria is NIN. NIN had all details including that of maternal.

Passport Renewal: Proof of citizenship mandatory – NIS

By Folashade Ogunrinde April 20, 2024 Reading Time: 2 mins read

In the new regime, part of the requirements for renewal of passports include provision of a National Identification Number, old passport number, birth certificate, and local government certificate of indigeneship.

The Nigeria Immigration Services (NIS) has defended its latest policy requiring proof of citizenship from Nigerians seeking to renew their passports.

In a post on X, the NIS stated that all documents required during the process of passport issuance are backed by the Nigerian constitution and the Ministry of Interior.

The immigration service explained that β€œfor your claim of being a Nigerian citizen to hold water, there has to be a document that ties you to a local government (indigenous area) within the country.”
