It's amazing that this generation of igbos are so hateful. Their fathers were more reasonable. The hatred exhibited by todays igbo youth had never been witnessed in Nigeria, even during and immediately after the civil war. My father inlaw actually fought in the civil war and was very close to ojukwu. You will never find him spewing so much hatred for Nigeria or Yorubas or even hausa-fulanis.
can you shut up?
did you know how many igbos where killed in the civil war?

Your hatred for Nigeria is palpable. You forgot history too soon. When Yoruba has opportunities to confiscate Igbos Properties after the Civil war, they didn't. Commercial disputes are completely different from discrimination moreso from a foreigners in your country

yeah it sounds nonsense but it's a fact they do that. Maybe not the way they do it in Africa but they don't like to intermingle. During the Rodney king LA riots in the US 1992, most Asian shops were attacked (although mainly Korean shops) because of their discriminatory attitude. Bruce Lee had to escape China to the US because he exposed Martial arts to the western world and Chinese people weren't happy about it. Hence his mysterious death. Those people are mysterious.

Haba, who thought you all these?

1. Bruce Lee was an American by birth but never lived there. He needed to get back to USA before he turns 18 so the citizenship would not be cancelled. As at that time, American citizenship was a very big deal. Nobody pursued him as he was not even popular in Hong Kong after some failed movie attempts. He simply went to USA to pursue the American dream like most people from Hong Kong.

2. The Chinese find it hard to assimilate into any society as they have that belief that their culture is not necessarily superior but the right culture to inculcate as a society. Confucianism comes into play here.

It’s not about being secretive but about their way and rules guiding their lives.

I lived in Hong Kong and mainland China for years and nobody stopped me from entering into any public space. Matter of fact, the Chinese are usually over exited to invite and give you a tour of their community.

I don’t speak for the Chinese but these are my experience with them. A few Nigerians would have started shouting and constituting nuisance at the supermarket. Same situation taking place in black neighborhoods in USA. And for the fear of being labeled a racist, most of these shops owned by whites and Asians are closing shops.

That being said, I totally condemn the restriction in Abuja Chinese supermarket and urge the necessary authorities to investigate and punish the perpetrators thoroughly.

There is nothing bad in the way they go about their business.
As long as they pay their taxes, I believe Nigerians should mind their business.

Stop barking like a rabid dog you nitwit hypocrite. Is what the Chinese did more bad than Igbo lives, properties and businesses that you omoniles and your illegal terrorist government are destroying at Lagos? The Chinese owns their supermarket and they reserves the right to chose who buys from them.

Ok dumbby; I heard you and well said about the Chinese shorties; now I hope you have finished digesting the Chinese nuts you enjoy from his 3 inches straw. So please you can now come back to your senses.

The Abuja-based Chinese supermarket criticised for refusing to allow Nigerians to shop in its facility is currently closed, PUNCH Online reports.

Our correspondent who arrived at the premises on Monday at 9.10 am observed that the grocery store was closed with an anti-theft padlock.

Earlier on Sunday, Nigerians had expressed outrage over a discriminatory policy implemented by the Chinese Supermarket, which restricted entry exclusively to its citizens and barred Nigerians.

The supermarket situated at the China General Chamber of Commerce, along Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Road in Abuja, is acclaimed as a destination for Chinese cuisine and beverages.

When our correspondent visited the supermarket to confirm the authenticity of the claim on Sunday, security personnel at the gate confirmed that the management of the store had given the directive at the beginning of the year without giving reasons.

One of the guards who didn’t wear his name tag and declined to disclose his name, said prospective shoppers who are not Chinese are turned back at the gate as directed by the management.

The officer said, “For now, they (management) have stopped everything. The truth is that they are selling, but they said our people should stop coming. They said only Chinese individuals are allowed to shop here. The shop is only meant for Chinese people. People were allowed to come in throughout last year, but since January, they changed the policy and directed that no Nigerian is allowed to enter.

“We were not informed of any reason for the policy, but we have told them to remove all adverts from the Internet so that people would stop coming.”

Our correspondent was, however, allowed entrance because, according to the officer, “Today is Sunday, and you are covered with grace.”

At the grocery store located at Villa 7, a mixture of foreign and local food, drinks, and essential items was showcased on the shelf with no price tag.

One of the attendants, who speaks the Yoruba language, expressed shock that a Nigerian was allowed to gain entry, noting that “Maybe they allowed because you didn’t come with a car.”

She also stated that authorities stopped Nigerians from entering for reasons not known to them.

She noted, “Yes, Nigerians are not allowed to enter the supermarket. Only people who work on the premises are allowed to shop here. There are reasons but we don’t know because it was not like this before. I don’t know how they allowed you in, maybe because you didn’t come with a car. They would never allow anyone who comes with a car to enter the premises.

But at the gate on Monday, our correspondent met another set of security personnel who granted access without any questions.

The guard who did have a name tag said, “You want to go to the supermarket? You can go, without asking further questions.

Attempts to speak with passersby on reasons for the closure proved abortive as they claimed not to have information about the situation.

No one went in or out of the compound for over 45 minutes while our correspondent was outside the premises.

Our correspondent also observed heavy security presence on the street leading to the supermarket.

angry... Not that im defending these Chinese people, but I've been to China and I know their tradition, Chinese people are extremely discreet, they don't like sharing anything with you. That's why they live in clusters, Chinatown. You hardly see Chinese people intermingle with commoners. And they do it to everyone including Europeans not just blacks alone. I think it's an Asian thing.
I believe why the restricted Nigerians there is fear of their safety, because from the report it started January this year and it was this January that dollars started skyrocketing and food stuffs increased astronomically. So they feared that Nigerians might want to loot their shops or do something sinister to them..
Most immigrants liked and still like to live in clusters or ethnic enclaves.

Back in the early history of U.S. immigration, the Italian, Irish, Jewish, Japanese, and Chinese immigrants for instance all lived In ethnic enclaves... The Jews in NY lived in the Lower East Side of New York. So, it's not peculiar to the Chinese, but it'll be totally irresponsible for the Chinese to prevent citizens of the countries hosting them from gaining access to a Chinese grocery store.

Please stop behaving like an ingrate that uses left hand to point to his father's compound. The Chinese don't own any land in Nigeria, all land belongs to the government, they can only lease it.
Even if they bought and own the land, they cannot commit a crime on the land.
They should go to South Africa and discriminate against the locals claiming they own the land, and see if they would live to tell the story.

Considering we’ve practically given the keys to Aso Rock in exchange for loans, it’s really hard not to see the irony in that.
Anyway, if they’re breaking the law of the land they should face the consequences.
Whilst I wouldn’t treat people like that, I’m not really interested in judging the people involved. I just don’t really care.
This country has way too many things wrong for me to become agitated over someone controlling their private property.

But Nigerian laws does not permit discrimination in form of race as these Chinco is trying to do to us in our country. I don't get how this makes sense to you guys

Honestly, I see what you’re saying. If they’re breaking the law they should be prosecuted.
Personally though, I just don’t feel so strongly about it. They don’t want black people in their business, meh! Their problem.

Yes I know it shouldn’t be like that, I also don’t care to care so much about it. People are out here like they’re the Nazis and they’re invading our motherland or whatever. Chill, my people. chill

What is wrong here is that as long as they are serving the public, they are bound and obligated to not discriminate. Its different if its your private residence and you invite certain friends over. Its not the property (govt or private owned) that is in question, its that you are providing a service to the public, therefore, cannot operate it like apartheid or discriminate based on your colour, tribe etc.

I know about this discrimination laws in countries like the USA Maybe it’s cos it naija shaa, I feel like what are we shouting about. Everything is already upside down this is now the one we’re taking up arms in protest of.

Thanks for the explanation anyway.

A little research would have let you know that the highest percentage of those Indians are Kenyan born and have been recognized as one of the tribes in Kenya. They are into business just like other tribes or nationalities maybe into something else.

Well the Asian Indian tribe in Kenya has enslaved the Black Kenyan tribes. That's what I know.

Good Luck to Kenya.

Can't you have discussions without being rude? Why are you bringing the issue of the civil war here again? A war that Ojukwu went into without adequate preparation! A war in which he prefers the starvation of his people to earn simpathy from outer world! We've had enough of this victim mentality. The war was very unfortunate and avoidable

If a Chinese actually established that business, it wasn't set up for profit-making purposes. How many Chinese live in Abuja that will give you enough sales to keep that business going? Some things don't just make any sense.

Hmm... But they could just call it an exclusive supermarket and it'll be okay, yeah?
I see what you're saying. I guess I should have thought more about it.
But now I'm just thinking of how to help them game the system.
Rich people already do legal segregation with money, so these ones can just say it's an exclusive supermarket that requires you to have a specialised vip card. They'll allow you to start registration o but somehow somehow black people will not meet the criteria or the processing will take forever. Meanwhile Chinese people will walk in and out with their "special" vip card.
Everybody can rest then
