malali: To add. Not just in Lagos. You cannot work for any other commercial bank in Nigeria. You can work a MFB, morge house etc. This limits your options for 2 years 1 Like |

malali: Do you also realize Non-Compete prevents your employee who you've trained and taught your business secrets from easily resigning after gaining the knowledge which they can either use directly to compete against your business or join your competitor? 1 Like |

Non-compete does not stop workers from switching jobs, it only stops workers from divulging the company's trade secrets and IPs to their new employers. If this bill is passed, thousands of Tech Corps would leave the USA. What would stop a Software Engineer from starting his own tech company around a proprietary technology like airdrop after specializing in Airdrop Technology at Apple Inc.? Without the non-compete, Tesla battery tech, TSMC 2nm chip tech, PV tech and many other IPs would be available to competitors by simply poaching their’ CTOs and lead engineers. Big tech companies will steal IPs from small tech companies and China will be happy with this new law. |

omoredia: The fact that you equate complex economics of the biggest economy in the world with common sense shows you lack the common sense you think you have. Well, I’m not surprised. A mad person doesn’t know he is mad. Guess the same goes with one that thinks he is smart; he indeed doesn’t know he is foolish. Idiot say na common sense. 😭😭😭 Classic keyboard warrior. 😂😂😂 |

1x2x3: Don't stress it. Most employees don't know why these laws were established or what it takes to run an innovative business. What they see is “modern slavery”, however, what employers see is a law that protects them from being eaten by big wolves. |

It's a welcome development. Imagine being fired From company A and you can't work in company B because they are rivals or similar. However, there should be clauses attached to it. For instance, company A trains you with their cash, you shouldn't leave that company for a specified period of time for company B. |
