The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mr Peter Obi, took to his verified Twitter handle to lampoon the Federal Government for continuing the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway.

In his tweets, he rued the economic and job losses, asking the government to focus on maintaining existing highways instead of engaging in non-essential projects

Dear @PeterObi

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T0WrY43K3cE?si=I80p3SgPZdXnDSrQ

It appears you have allowed your electoral loss to convert you into a full blown pathological liar and a desperate man on a mission to always deceive.

How on earth would you say that over 100,000 jobs are about to be lost because of the Lagos-Calabar coastal road project. How many times do you need to be told that the Landmark beach resort for instance, is not going to lose any of its buildings. Landmark has no building on the beach itself apart from chairs, tents, astro turfs etc. The Landmark towers, Landmark Apartments, their event centre and shopping arcade, are NOT affected by the demolition.

In fact the beach that is going to form part of the road is within the federal government's right of way, which makes any structure on that path an illegal structure. Are you saying if you are President, you will cede the federal government's right of way to any developer?

Meanwhile, as Governor of Anambra State, you demolished part of Premier Brewery in Onitsha to make way for road reconstruction and you said at the time that any building that stands in the way of road construction will be brought down with no compensation. You did not remember COMPASSION IN PUBLIC POLICY then or the effect on the business of Premier Brewery. What changed now? Your hypocrisy and short memory needs to be studied in a Philosophy school honestly.

In case you don't know, the value the Lagos-Calabar coastal road will bring to that corridor after construction far outweighs whatever structures that will be demolished. This is not even hard to comprehend. A new beach front will definitely emerge and tourism will be greatly boosted. It is now obvious that you are not capable of grand visioning. You only see the present.

If previous administrations in Lagos were only looking at the present with no grand vision, Landmark will not even have a place to erect his investments in the first place. The Lagos great seawall made it possible. The coastal road is a boulevard like no other within Lagos, and your wailing cannot stop it. I understand that you are a minimalist that thrives on doing the barest minimum with poor quality as your watchword, so, I'm not totally surprised that the scope of the Lagos-Calabar coastal road is shocking to you.

It's even amusing that you're complaining that the project is progressing at a fast pace and yet insinuating that the project will take 30 years to be completed or likely to be abandoned. Do you even listen to what you say sometimes?

My advice to you is just to sit back, relax and watch as Engr. Dave Umahi delivers what you think is impossible. Action is better than cho cho cho.

I also think you are threatened by the rising profile and undeniable competence of Minister of Works, Dave Umahi and the reality that he will one day become the first president of Nigeria from the South East in the 4th Republic while you take your place as one of most dangerously deceitful and bitter politician to have ever graced Nigeria's political landscape

A lot of idiots have access to microphone in Nigeria. This writer has not been to a beach before.

There are more that 100 businesses that offer products and services in a moderate beach without any investment interest not to talk of 200 million dollars investment.

When a company of these size goes down, a lot of other smaller businesses that offers complimentary businesses and services go down.

The smaller businesses may have 5 to 10 employees but when you multiply it by the number of such businesses, you will understand the after effect of such businesses going down.

Empty reply. Just few months ago, there was not a dime for subsidy so where is fund for a redundant project suddenly coming from?
Palliative are being postponed but questionable projects are spring up.

There is a East-West road that connects Niger Delta cities to Lagos which is uncompleted yet government’s priority was to hastily award trillions of naira contract for a new road construction

Make this make sense!

Meanwhile did you see how some criticism against Peter Obi from a random nobody quickly made it to frontpage?

The question you should ask yourself is, if they want you to hate PO, are they making life easier for you, or are they fighting him to protect their corrupt asses?

Not just ibo. The guy is also an Anambran and chose to follow the path of truth instead of lying to himself. Obidients will deflect as you can see in their posts. One was even talking about subsidy and palliative. He is trying to derail the thread. grin

That Lagos-Calabar super highway will so transform the Niger Delta and bring about the age long development the region deserves.

The Landmark guy has no right over any land or coastlines in Lagos or anywhere else in Nigeria to start with, so what is the madness about?. Let him relocate to UK and set up beach along their waterways and see if UK Govt. won't jail him and his money.

No jupiter will stop that highway.. just imagine people criticizing IBB back then over 3rd mainland bridge. Truly common sense is not common.

They never said it would be completed in 4 years. 8 years is the project time line and private funding is also involved, so it's not your typical FG road project.

Rubbish reply. The east west road connects lagos and all Niger Delta states. The new costal Road does the same except it has railways. Now common sense dictates you complete the east west road before embarking on a new road. The east west road is not completed, the portion done are in bad shape yet you start a new road

This is a brutal upper cut. I am sure obi will weep reading this reply.

We await Reno, Bwala and others upper cut.

Those advising obi are too dull. No matter what obi says or does, he can never rule Nigeria.

Come 2027, many vibrant and younger aspirants will emerge and obi popularity will fade away.

At the moment the noise of obedients is making obi assume he has lots of chances come 2027.

The North will never allow anyone takeover from the present govt cos that will be suicidal for the North come 2031 which is their turn.

Obi should go and rest abeg

Is there anything wrong in doing the 2 at once. Must people do only linear projects? Is it a crime to do concurrent projects? Questions....

The Landmark company will be compensated.

These dissenters have no idea what a highway is, especially this coastal project! They only see it as another road. Incredible.

People should start asking Peter Obi the whereabouts of his wife. He never goes out with her when he attends weddings, burials, church programmes etc. He has never praised her as a support pillar. It is all about himself and himself. He only showcases her during select campaign rallies for political gain. The woman may be disgusted with his poor dress sense, lying tongue and bad fatherhood that saw him raise a homosexual as son.
